Titus, you out there?

-The last few months had just been insane.  First the higher ups had given her a partner, one Llidya Chapman.  Then they'd given them a transfer to RPIT.  Then her partner had left; destination unknown, to Chris at least.  And now there was so much restructuring going on in the department due to funding that she felt like every day she was walking into a whole new station.  She was beginning to miss Vegas, and that was never a good thing.-

-That particular night she was cozied up at home at the very inconvenient hour of four in the morning.  Her coffee table was strewn with crime scene photos and documents from a case she'd been working, as well as chinese take out boxes, a bottle of water.  On the stereo was the sound of Dolly Parton's smooth sultry voice singing a duet with Kenny Rogers.  Hell, it was her house, she could play what she wanted to.-

-Leaning back against the sofa she pushed her fingers back through her hair as she tried to contemplate what the chances were of getting an animator to come raise a zombie for her at a price their budget could afford.  Slim to none probably.  Then a prolific idea struck her mind and she pushed aside papers to search for her cell phone somewhere on the mess of the table.  Checking through her contacts she found a number she'd had for awhile, but hadn't had the occasion to use, at least not without feeling awkward about it.-

-Dialing Titus's number she pulled one leg underneath her on the cushions and waited for an answer.  Damn, she had forgotten what time it was.  For a moment she hesitated and almost hung up, but then a deep baritone voice answered.  Too late now, nothing to do but speak up.-

"Titus, it's Chris....Chris Parker."

-She waited to see if he even remembered her from their one visit over pizza many months ago.  When he replied and let her know that he remembered her she was glad, since the alternative was him thinking a stranger was calling him at the butt crack of dawn.-

"I've got something I'd like to discuss with you if you have the time.  Pizza's on me, just tell me when you can meet."

Titus was surprisingly awake. Having just parked his car, he burst through the door with his bag of goodies and dropped them to the floor as his pocket began to sing "God's gonna cut you down" to him. He put the phone to his ear and gave his greeting then waited...

1...

2...

He was about to ask if anyone was there when a woman's voice came through the speaker. It took him a moment but he remembered the woman from that night with the pizza. He gave a nod and smiled thinking this was the longest call back time on record.

"Uh sure. Is this official in that I like have to wear a suit or something a little less formal." he gave his schedule for the rest of the week and began the arduous task of conferring with another person who's life was just as wild it seemed. They hammered out a time though and he marked it on his phone calender when he hung up. Now to find out what was going on in the world of Chris Parker.

"I'm pretty sure that if you show up in a suit it gives me permission to shoot you." -Sometimes people didn't really find Chris's brand of humor funny so she added.- "Yeah, casual.  Though I do have some official business in mind, if only so I can write off the cost of the pizza."

-Stretching out an arm she went through the paper hazards trying to find her schedule book.  A near empty carton of beef lo mein fell off the table and she cursed under her breath as she rose onto her knees to give the table a more thorough search.  Once she had her book open they played pin the tail on the calendar and came up with a date just a few days away when they were both free.  Perfect.-

"Alright Titus, I'll meet you at the Meta Pizza.  See you then."

-Hanging up the phone she peered over the table at the take out trash now decorating her wood floor.  Bracing her hands on the coffee table she hauled herself up from the floor cushions to walk into the kitchen and make at least a token effort at cleaning the mess up.-
