Ash was a terrible 'phone person'. Of the skills that he had honed in his life that was simply not one of them. He used the phone for utilitarian purposes rather than for conversations or whiling away the hours with loved ones. So when he placed a call to Sirus that day he didn't expect that the conversation would be a long one. He wanted only to set up a meeting between himself and the two wolves who had been on his mind of late. Listening to the line ring he heard Sirus's sleepy voice pick up the phone and glanced at his own clock to note that it was only about five in the morning; maybe he should have waited for later to call.
"Sirus, you awake? You sound like I just woke you up from a dream."
There was a hint of joking in his voice towards the younger wolf who used to sleep until noon most days.
"Is Dee there with you?"
In the background he could hear the sound of Euridacee's surly voice, probably threatening to kill whoever was waking them at such an ungodly hour of morning. To himself Ash chuckled at the near perfection of this match. If someone had been taking bets on Sirus settling down Ash would have thought it would never happen, guess he would've lost that bet. Again he could hear movement on the other line, perhaps Dee moving closer so she could hear the conversation.
"There's an important matter I need to speak with you both about. Can you come to the pack house one evening this week so we can talk?"
Settling on a night that would be good for both of them he could already hear the slurry sounds of them settling back into sleep. Let them rest for now, they'd need it in the days to come. Giving them instructions on what to bring with them, a change of clothes, and a flash drive, he let them go back to whatever they'd been doing. Hanging up he rubbed the center of his forehead as he wondered who else he needed to get in touch with.
Riiiiing! Riiiiiiing! Riiiiiiiing! Was what woke them up from their warm, cuddling slumber. It was starting to get cold and wet outside, and this was perfect cuddling season.
Dee growled deeply, lifting herself from Sirus's chest as he rolled over to answer the phone.
"What the fuck....Who the hell...I'm gonna kill them...this better be important..."
Was all she muttered before Sirus leaned over with the phone so the two of them could hear. It was Ash.
"Yeah, we can do that. And for calling us this damn early in the morning, I would like refreshments at the pack house. Thanks."
Although her voice was filled with morning aggravation, there was a light tone when she requested refreshments so that it seemed she really wasn't going to kill Ash for waking them up with a phone call.
