H I S T O R Y :

Zoe Sabine Girard was born to the French Casino tycoon Gustav Girard and his lovely wife Jeanne on September 16th 1991 in Paris. To say this girl was born with a silver spoon in her mouth is putting it mildly. The only child of an aging couple who had the girl when they were both well into their thirties, the little girl grew up being lavished with affection and expensive gifts. At a very young age Zoe found she had a passion for dance, while her parents tried to influence this passion, putting the girl into ballet and ballroom dancing, Zoe's form of expression more often than not turned to the wilder side of dance. Trying to keep some type of control of their child's wayward and sometimes reckless nature, she was sent off to boarding school by the age of thirteen.

Life in boarding school sucked for Zoe even though her parents were beyond wealthy, she found that all the rules and limitations heaped onto her just didn't mesh well with her care-free attitude and wild abandon. The only thing that gave her the slightest semblance of hope over the years were e-mails to her second cousin, Geller, whom she connected with on a brief meeting while the man was in town on business shortly before she was shipped off. Within five years she was kicked out of seven different schools for various crimes, sneaking out, wild pranks, fighting, destruction of property, drugs. It seemed the poor little rich girl just didn't fit into her parents wealthy background and felt more at home on the dance floor of some new age club then she did in polite society. Throughout most of her youth, whenever she got into trouble her father would go into rages, yelling about how if she continued down the path she was on, she would wind up like that no good cousin of her mother's, who happened to be none other than Charles Geller. Of course, he didn't realize at the time that his constant harping only incited her to retain a friendship with this cousin which would only fuel Zoe's independent streak more.

Luckily, somehow, she made it to her graduation, but instead of heading off to college like most other eighteen year olds she decided to go backpacking through Europe for a year. Of course, the trip wasn't what she had hoped for, with her father sending two armed men as her "protection" from the world in general. By the time she came home, the young woman was chafing from the tight leash of control he tried to keep her on. It was only when her father started talking about Zoe settling down with a nice man who could run the casinos and starting a family of her own even going so far as to set her up on a few dates with some of what he considered 'fine young gentlemen', that the girl made her decision to run. She couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to live life on her own terms, not her father's. She didn't want to get married, didn't want to be an heiress with the size of a fortune enviable by a small country, she didn't want her life. She liked to live life on the edge, pushing herself to the limits, experimenting with sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll. Cliched, maybe, but for better or worse it was who she was.

Packing only two large duffle bags, she snuck out in the middle of the night, leaving her home and not looking back. She was an adult, her father couldn't force her to do the things he wanted if she wasn't there. It was time to live life on her own terms. So, where to go? The only answer she could think of was London. To the man she'd heard her father bad mouth for over a decade, hoping that maybe she could find a sympathetic ear and with any luck a place to stay for a little while until she get a place of her own. She knew his name, and the name of the restaurant where he worked, that was all she needed to find him.

In London she found a semblance of something she'd never had before. Freedom, but not only that, she also found family. Her cousin was more like the over-protective brother, but one who knew that no matter what, she had to make her own mistakes to learn. She found a best friend Maya Xanthos, the bubbly blonde wolf who considered Geller her hero. She found a motherly figure in the quiet, but gentle vampire Nike and someone she could tease mercilessly in James, the vampire's butler.  She thought her cousin had found his own love in a woman, but when everyone moved to New York, the woman stayed behind. Something Zoe would still very much like to take her aggression out on, one of these days.

New York brought a new arrival into their home with Venus. Venus too was like a big sister that the only child had never had. The city had also brought her a job oppurtunity that never quite got off the ground. Working for Patsy Stone was the chance of a lifetime, and something that would no doubt piss off her father if word ever got back to him that his daughter was a high-priced call girl. Only, sometimes, things never work out as they are planned.

Her first job was a pair of twins, and little to her knowledge, they were vampires as well. Her memory of the night is less than clear, even to this day she's not sure what really happened. She remembers having a good time, but nothing substantial, except for the need to tell Patsy that the job wasn't her cup of tea.

Everything after that seemed to flow smoothly until the night her cousin came home with sme very odd news. He brought a woman home with him named Jenna, who was apparently some kind of assassin. Unfortunately for them, Jenna had been offered a contract for Geller's life and refused, making her a target as well. They were all in danger, and well the easiest solution was to go into hiding, but where? It was Zoe who'd come up with the answer. She'd read the strange letter the family had recieved to go to a masquerade ball in New Orleans during Mardi Gras... What better place to disappear in?
