She had been debating the idea for a while, and when she told Maddox and he seemed to think it was a good one, it made her happy that he liked it as well. Moving through out the plantation home until she reached the large ballroom, which was the perfect room for a Halloween party. Heck even if no one else showed up at least the ballroom would look good. First things first though they would need to get to planning it before the fruits of their idea could be seen. The ballroom had not been used in years, it was about time to change that, at least she had thought so.
Miz Mary found her in the ballroom, and asked what the girl was thinking of, and they two of them retired to the kitchen, where Miz Mary whipped up some lunch and they began to discuss things, nothing that was out of the line for the two of them to discuss with out Maddox, but just things in general. Plus they were discussing foods, Miz Mary had some great ideas not that they could not use some more ideas….and she thought about that…how were they going to get stuff put out to see if anyone would want to help.
It was then that she heard the noise and she perked up thinking that Maddox had arrived. A smile to Miz Mary. “Just get whatever staff you think we will need….and the help you will need with the cooking and serving.” And then she was up to look for Maddox, that way they could get down to planning more. Things had been quiet as of late and she was looking forward for things to pick back up. Moving towards him she smiled wrapping her arms around his waist. “I told Miz Mary you were coming out to look at the ballroom today, so we can get some ideas of how we want things set up.”
It was one of those rare nights he had not been with her but they had spoken on the phone and via text and the next morning when he woke up he got dressed and ready and drove out to the Plantation house. Slipping with in the boys left outside he looked through the place still with all his reservations about being there though they had settled a good deal. He walked into the kitchen and gave a smile to Miz mary. But his eyes turned down to Monkey and he smiled to her. Placing a kiss to her brow he looked betweent he two ladies.
Smiling to Monkey and then back to Miz Mary. "I am, have you ladies thought of anything? Oh and we can have fliers and stuff done up at work if you want to do those. I figured i can kinda put them up. Or did you have some other way of getting a hold of people?" he asked his eyes looking over her with a soft smile.
When Maddox joined them Miz Mary would give a smile to the man, but she rose and came back with a plate of food which was set down before Maddox. It was nothing special just a sandwich on a sub bun and a beer, a single beer.
Georgia Grace looked over to Maddox as he was now in the room with the two of them. A grin as she watched Miz Mary grab the food as he walked in the door. She was shaking her head. “Maddox are you hungry?” A laugh as she was watching him. “We were working on food ideas. Miz Mary said a good idea would be to make things that are more of a bite sized manner. Stuff that is not to heavy but that is light and yet filling at the same time.” She was nodding. “She figured we could set up one side of the ballroom with tables for people to sit and eat or just watch, and leave the other side open for anyone that wished to dance. We were debating if we should get a band or go with a d.j.” She paused to let Maddox talk here if he had an idea.
“Oh! No that is a great idea baby. Because I do not know how else to really reach people.” She was rather happy with his input it was showing on her face. She liked when things started to come together.
Mads smiled to Miz Mary when the food was brought out and hearing Monkey he nodded. "Yeah actually, hadn't eaten yet. Was getting things settled and getting the boys over here." he said as he took a bite of the food. Hearing her suggestion about the food he looked between the two and finished chewing his food. "I agree." he said.
He was busy feeding his face while he thought and vaguly remembered what the ballroom looked like as he was promptly escorted through it after the almost throw down with Matt. Then when he finished his bite of food he looked towards the two. "We could get big fog machines and put them in the corners and near the dance floor. Maybe make it like dimmed lights and black lights?" He said still thinking about the DJ. "I think a DJ would be better, a band is a bit.... to elegant.Looking between the two he took the last bite of his sandwich. Thinking up more ideas.
Miz Mary shot Georgia Grace a knowing look about the food. That was not a surprise was it? The woman once she decided that she liked Mads was all about feeding him. Turning her attention away from Miz Mary she was nodding at Maddox whom was speaking of agreement about the food.
“After your done eating we can go into the ballroom and you can get a better feel for it.” She thought that might be a good idea. “It will help me figure out if we want long tables or circular tables.” The way the ballroom was either would work, and she was kind of partial to the circle tables that made it easier for those seated at the same table to talk. The long banquet style tables often left those at the ends without the ability to chat with everyone…whereas the other tables made that a more viable option. “We will need cobwebs…skeletons…a casket…” She was waiting patiently for Mads to eat. “Pumpkins…we will need pumpkins for out front carved.” A look over to see what the other two thought.
Mads smiled to tho two women and winked to Monkey. Finishing his lunch he looked to Miz Mary. "Execellent as always Miz Mary." He offered with a smile and moved over to Monkey. Taking her hand in his own he took in a ready breath and nodded. "Alright, off to the ballroom." He kissed her softly and kept their fingers laced as they walked. HIs eyes looking forward and not varying much as they got there. He looked around the large ballroom and slipped his hand from hers walking further into the expanse of the room.
Maddox thought for several long moment as he looked around. The turned back towards her. "I would say circular tables in two groupings, one along each end leaving the middle open for the DJ and dancing. Maybe som fog machines that keep the ground foggy." He offered his eyes looking her over with a grin as he returned to her. "What do you think about that?" He asked a grin to his lips.
Miz Mary smiled over to Maddox and gave a knowing look to Georgia Grace. She knew men, she knew men that were in rushes sometimes forgot to eat, and if she knew Maddox from the morning coffee's she would know that he was that man rushing. Georgia Grace smiled up to Mads, when he took her hand, her fingers slipped to lace with his. "The ballroom." But when he bent to kiss her she raised up on tip toes to return that kiss. When they got into the ballroom she was watching him, as she did in all the parts of the house, save for the bedroom that they had redone together. It seemed that the room and Miz Mary's kitchen and dinning room...were the rooms he was the most comfortable with. She knew in time he would quit thinking that if he touched something the secret service was going to jump in through windows and arrest him.
A thoughtful look as she was picturing what he was saying, you could see that brain of her's was working. "I like the circular tables. I just don't know if the dj should be in the middle of the tables, which could make it hard for anyone to have a conversation if they wished too?" She was still looking thoughtful though..."But I like the fog machines,we will just have to make sure any decorations are visible above the fog, to make sure that no one get's hurt." Not that she was dead set against his idea, no she just was thinking on it more, trying to figure out what would be best. A sort of taking it all in, and planning n her head, and meshing the two.
Well wasn't he glad he started having coffee in the morning with Miz Mary! But yes he was in man mode and rushing to get to where his heart wanted him. The ballroom was still fairly overwhelming and the unease of it all seemed to be written on his thoughtful face. He stepped further within the room though he kinda hunched as if ready for a take down. Looking about the ballrom, yes in time he would be fine but some rooms as she said were better than others. Their bedroom for sure was a safe zone.
Looking towards her he thought a moment. "We could put him over there in the corner and put all the table to one side which would make it seem like the dance floor is bigger." He offered making a hasty retreat to his lovers side where he felt somewhat comfortable again. His hand taking her own. "Hmm, We could have like a graveyard mock set up maybe around the dj area and ask if we pay him extra will he be a zombie."
He should be because it would seem to make things easier on him, instead of having to fight the house and Miz Mary, he had an ally on his side. One room at a time, was going to be how they were going to have to get him used to things for when they were at the plantation, one room a time. She was watching him, at least with the ballroom if he was inside and needed to get out, the double french doors at the back lead right outside. He seemed to do better outside once he got over whelmed.
Listening to his words she was nodding, because it sounded like something she could see, having him on the other side in the corner. The tables that way they could converse if they wished too, "I think that sounds good." Then he was talking a bit more and she was grinning up to him. "I am sure that it will not be hard at all to get a dj to dress as a zombie." She did not want to say that money was no object because he was warming up, and she did not want to change things. But in truths she knew a few djs that would do it for nothing extra simply because they liked the dressing up part as well. "We will need black table cloths...maybe with spider webs on them." She was possibly rushing at the moment but that was only because she was going to have to get the order placed. "Do you think we should hire a few staff to walk around and make sure everyone is okay, help with drinks, take care of any coats anyone wears?" Yes yes this was her sort of thing, but she wanted Maddox to feel as if he had a say. This was their thing and she was wanting to know what he thought and felt so she could just make it happen. She did not want to make him feel to overwhelmed and she thought him helping would have to help. She waited a moment until he was back at her side and she smiled up at him.
Mads was looking around as she spoke and he nodded. Moving back to her side he looked down to her a long moment and smiled. His eyes looking over her mismatched hues. "I think a few extra staff would be helpful, that way we can enjoy the party as well." he offered looking around but then he was walking, and walking towards those double doors at the back.
Looking out back he got a though leaning against the door jam. "You know Monkey, we could totally set up a haunted hay ride." He said turning back to her before looking forward once more out side. Yes he needed the fresh air but it was smooth right? Making it look natural?
When he was looking down at her with that smile, she smiled back up to him. "I thought that would be the best. Make things...easier." She was about making things easier. There was still one thing she could not do for him, so she thought she would do what she could, and if he had never known about the other things probably would of been easier. But that was not the case, and he knew and they were working around it?
When he walked to the back she was watching him, oh he was smooth with the delivery, but she knew exactly what was going on. She walked across the ballroom to his side, looking up at him with that smile, before she opened the doors. "Perhaps we should go out there and look around? Just to get a better feel if we want to go and make a haunted hay ride?" She would step through the doors and wait for Maddox, before her hand would reach out for his, offering a bit of silent support. "Do you think a hayride or a haunted maze would be best?" The hayride would be easier to do, and probably cost efficient instead of having to bring in the stuff to make the maze, both would need people hired to do the hauntings. Just throwing that out there, once more she did like his idea, and he should be able to tell, but she thought to give another thought too, so that he had more to choose from. Yes it was her home, but she did not want him to feel as if, it was just her party. It was their party, and she wanted him to have a nice big say in things, might help ease him for that night as well.
Mads watched her as she came over and offered up her hand thinking about her question of the maze or the hay ride. He was thinking as they stepped out side and the walls stopped closing in and he was settling the thoughts of the secret service popping out of somewhere to arrest him. He looked around the back and laced his fingers with hers before he finally voiced his opinion.
"While I think the maze would be fun, I think the hayride would be easier to do and more cost effective." Though he knew that wasnt a problem for her and he sort of made a face in thought about it. His eyes looking down to her with a smile. "I think a hayride would be best and thank you." For her support because it did help.
She understood his need for getting out, and truthfully she was proud of him, he was doing so much better being inside. Because he had those thoughts she tried not to bring attention to them, she tried to be supportive, and understanding all at once. With her hand in his, she would give his hand a squeeze, and a smile up to him.
She saw that face, and figured she knew what he was thinking, and did her best not to make a face like ugh. Then he said what he thought and she gave a nod of her head. "A hayride it will be!." She just gave him that look, you know the one, about him saying thank you she knew what it was for, but she thought that you were suppose to be supportive when you were in a relationship.
"We should get hiring people soon, once we figure out the date I can work on getting us staffed, unless you have any ideas on that?" Once more she did not want to step on his toes, but she thought she would offer that as he was taking care of the well advertising, for the lack of the another word.
He nodded to her as he looked down to her. Yes supposrt is very important in a relationship! Maddox looked down to her with a smile and nodded. "Hayride it is." He said with a smile. Hues looking over the back before he nodded to the ballroom.
"Let's go to the kitchen and start getting a list of what we need and who we need to hire." He said his hand gently squeezing hers. Fingers still even laced. As they walked he was thinking about a date. "How about that saturday right before halloween? Gives us about a week or so?" He offered slipping inside the ballroom and closing the door behind him. Guiding her in the direction of the kitchen. "I love you Monkey." he said softly as they walked.
See she was getting a few things correct in the whole relationship thing, even if she made major ut ohs as well. Those would lessen as the time went and she learned her lessons, hopefully, or else this was going to be one hell of a bumpy ride. Either way, they were on the ride at the moment it would seem. She smiled up to him and nodded her head. "Do you think we should get different horses for it...or maybe use the tractor?" Yes she had a tractor or more laying about how do you think they took care of the yard? For not only was the fields there was quite a bit of green yard, not to mention the landscaping.
Nodding at his words, she would fall into step with him, and not just because of the laced fingers, unless he took advantage of his long legs compared to her shorter ones. She loved that he was taller she liked feeling dwarfed by her men...man. A thoughtful look but then she was nodding her head. "That sounds like a good day for it...." She liked his date he picked up, and she was thinking about a few things, but those thoughts were gone when they stepped inside, and he was guiding her to the kitchen. "I love you too, Mads."
"We have a lot to get done in a small amount of time." Once they were in the kitchen, Georgia Grace moved to where the paper was that she and Miz Mary were working on the food snacks for. "I think we need to get the word out as soon as possible." As it was they were cutting it short. Not that she never cut such things short before, but those were more celeb events, she did need to talk to Maddox about next month but that would hold for now.
