DJ: Hello out there all you fabulous listeners - I have a treat for you this evening! Here in the studio with me are the Killjoys, a semi-local sensation that's been setting up dominos from here to New York and is just about ready to flick them down. We'll be playing songs off their EP in anticipation for their show at the grand opening of Betwixt and Between and getting to know the guys just a little better over the course of the next hour. How about you introduce yourselves, fellas?
Toro: Hey this is Toro, I play guitar.
Frank: This is Frank! Also guitar.
Theo: They're like the guitar heroes of our band, except both of them like suck at that game. What? Oh, this is Theo. I do bass.
Alex: I'm Alex, I sing and shit. Can I say shit on the radio?
DJ: No we just bleeped you twice.
Alex: Oh fuck, sorry.
DJ: Three times.
Alex: Fu-- JELLYBEANS!
DJ:And who's the last band member?
Bob: Bob.
DJ:What do you do Bob?
Bob: Drums.
Alex: And he makes sure the rest of us don't like die in a fire. Bob's pretty solid. He and Toro are like... the sane ones. Frank's the clean one.
Frank: These guys are dirty as hell. Living with them is kind of painful.
DJ:So how are you guys finding New Orleans? You're not from here originally, right?
Alex: Oh no, we're all from New Jersey. It's really f--uhm. It's hot down here.
Frank: Yeah and it's got a way different feeling than like, Hoboken and Newark, you know?
DJ:Anyone here from the Jersey Shore?
Everyone: NO!
DJ:Ouch! Okay okay, so no future Situations in the house, we got it. How long have you guys been playing together?
Alex: We've all kind of been involved with music since high school, some of us earlier. Me and Toro sort of hooked up while I was in college and we had a band together, and Bob was a guy Toro knew. Frank was actually in another band, but we all played in the same places so he was at all our shows. Then he decided to hook up with us.
Frank: Yeah, I just had a feeling about it, and I'd known Toro from before so if he was on board I really wanted to be part of it.
Alex: Yeah it was weird - like we all kind of knew each other. Bob was actually one of Theo's friends from high school, and Toro knew Bob and Frank.
DJ:So Theo wasn't originally in the band?
Theo: I was for a little while. I learned how to play the bass to be in it. Then I moved and I guess they found someone to replace me?
Alex: Yeah, his name was Mike.
Theo: Right, then we sort of... reformed down here. And now I'm back.
Alex: It's pretty sweet.
DJ:So for everyone out there that doesn't know, Theo and Alex are actually brothers.
Alex: We're all kind of brothers.
Frank: Except I'm the one you'd f-- have sex with.
Alex: Yeah, he is.

DJ:And we're back! This is Joe and I'm here in the studio with the Killjoys. You guys just played a few-day festival up in Baton Rouge, how was that?
Frank: It was awesome, but kind of weird, you know? Like, it's hard to get with the, I-wanna-play-a-show-at-noon kind of vibe. It was cool, but weird. You kind of feel like a carnie in a circus.
Alex: But in a good way.
Frank: It was still weird.
Toro: The only part that sucked was getting bottled, but we played through it.
Alex: Yeah, I almost feel like it made the other performances better, you know? Like we had something to fight against. We do really well with shit like that.
Frank: Yeah that sucked, and the no shower part. You had to get really creative if you wanted a shower, or you just give up on it.
Alex: Yeah, I gave up on it.
DJ: Okay in five words, how would you describe your type of music? Or yourselves?
Theo: Five words?
Frank: Violently beautiful?
Alex: I like that!
Toro: Chaotic.
Alex: We do it with a lot of heart, I think.
Theo: Spicy.
Frank: .... Spicy?
Alex: Maybe we should take away his mic. He's the only one without one on stage.
Frank: Probably for a reason.
Theo: I can't sing. At all.
Frank: And he says the most random stuff sometimes.
DJ: Do you have a favorite song that you play?
Alex: I like singing You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison. Fans started giving me feather boas, so I always use it for that song.
Theo: He has a million feather boas. Please stop giving them to him. His room looks like a cheap bordello.
Frank: Or like he slaughtered Big Bird's family.
Toro: I really like playing one of our new songs, but it's a secret so I can't talk about it yet.
DJ: That's cool. Okay we took a few questions from callers earlier, we'll go through those right after this. Here's Thank You for the Venom.
DJ: Okay we're back. I'm here in the studio with the Killjoys, and now we're going to run through some questions people called in with earlier. You guys ready?
Bob: We're never ready.
DJ: Close enough! Favorite beverage?
Frank: Uhm, I don't even know if they make it anymore... Ecto Cooler? I think?
DJ: What is that?
Frank: It was like a little Hi-C carton with Slimer on it.
Alex: I'm so with you on that. Except I'd put vodka in it.
Frank: Oh my God that would be amazing. Except you're getting sober, so you can't.
Alex: Yeah, but it'd still be awesome.
Theo: Coffee.
Alex: Theo's like really particular about his coffee.
Theo: Alex isn't.
Alex: Yeah, I'll drink coffee from anywhere, at any time.
DJ: Even stale coffee??
Alex: Even stale coffee.
DJ: Okay, a few more quick questions. If you could be a Skittle, which color would you be?
Toro: Who the hell asked these??
Frank: Can we make one up?
DJ: Sure.
Frank: Mauve.
DJ:Why mauve??
Alex: It's his favorite color. I'd be like the blue ones.
Frank: They have blue Skittles?
Alex: Sometimes, depends on which pack you get.
Theo: Orange!
Alex: Orange makes me think of PCP. Can I say PCP?
DJ: Yes you can - why does it make you think of PCP?
Alex: I jumped out a window - a plate glass window on the fourth floor. It was orange. Don't do PCP.
Frank: He's a walking public service announcement.
DJ: What turns you on?
Alex: ... pajamas. I have a lot of them.
Toro: Oh, I dunno... uhm...
Theo: My girlfriend.
Frank: (laughing) Dude that is so cheating! You can't say that!!
Theo: Except now I'm gonna get presents!
DJ: Do any of you sleep naked?
Theo: No.
Alex: No, I don't.
Frank: Then how come you said it HAD to be that way when we slept together??
Alex: (laughing) Oh my God! No like the problem is I'll sleep in PJs, then get too hot and I like strip while I'm sleeping.
Toro: I slept naked when the AC in our apartment was broken.
Frank: Oh man, yeah, so did I.
DJ: What kind of questions would you ask each other if you were in my place?
Frank: Bob, who's your favorite superhero?
Bob: Superman.
Frank: Dude, Superman is SO lame!!
Bob: Okay, okay... Batman. Or the Hulk.
Frank: Okay... I'll accept that.
Alex: Frank, how tall are you?
Frank: Fuck you, man. That's how tall.
Theo: Frank, how many tattoos do you have?
Frank: (groan) Man don't make me count! A lot. Most of them on my left arm.
Toro: I actually got asked a question about Alex the other day.
Alex: You did?
Toro: Yeah, someone wanted to know if you were as crazy in person as you are on stage. I said yeah, but it's more endearing.
Alex: Woo! In person, I dunno, you'd have to ask Theo.
Theo: It's more endearing.
Frank: You're definitely not... normal... But good.
Alex: Bob, what kind of western civilization, part one or two?
Bob: Part two.
DJ:I don't even understand the question.
Frank: If you had to describe our band in three words, what would it be?
DJ:You're interviewing me now?? Uhm... You guys are definitely chaotic, but you guys obviously love each other.
Alex: Chaotic love, I like that.
Frank: You got one more word. Is it handsome? Is it?
Alex: No, probably not.
Frank: Aw, fuck.
