Arrival at the Hookah (Open)

After the phone call with Owen was done and over with, Zack slouched back in his seat and spent most of the ride in silence. The last thing he wanted was for the doctor to overreact and think they'd never see each other again. Sure, that little fear was still in the pit of the pup's stomach, too, but the reassurances from Dee, Sirus and Llidya gave him some hope that Silent wasn't just having him brought to the Hookah to get shot. It was good to see Dee again, even though they'd only met once before at Nate and Cullen's apartment. So, maybe he wouldn't to totally alone in this.

They were nice enough to stop by Zack's apartment first, and he was quickly back down in the hummer with a set of his own clothes.  It was typical attire for him: cargo pants and a zip-up hoodie.  The only thing different were the tennis shoes, since the boots he always wore were destroyed during the shift. He was happy that Steven thought of it enough to bring him a spare set, but they just didn't fit him very well. Then, it was crunch time. The hummer pulled up to the Hookah, and the nervousness had built up enough to keep Zack from moving for a few moments. The pup had to keep telling himself that there wasn't any other way around it, and that the only way to go at this point was forward.

The place just seemed like a bearer of bad news to him. The only other time Zack had been here was the night he was bitten, where Joseph, Lori, Astrid and Steven brought him there to tend to his wounds. Now, once again, he just couldn't shake the feeling that something in here was going to turn out really, really bad. “Well...” He thought aloud, hoping to get a laugh from his escort and relieve some of the tension. “...Least I can smoke here, right?” With a nervous grin plastered to his face, Zack opened the front door and stepped inside, ready to take whatever was coming his way like a man. On the outside, anyway. Anyone in the city could smell the pup's fear, but he'd be dead before he actually told anyone.

-It was kind of a slow night at the Hookah or at least it seemed slow after the shit bomb that had gone off recently.  Nyx, as usual, had not a fucking clue that a new wolf was coming in to see Silent.  Why you might ask? Because nobody ever told her shit! She could huff and she could huff but apparently they were all content to just leave her ass in the dark.  Anyway, on that particular night she was standing by the juke box in the corner which was usually turned off in favor of the sound system tracks that Silent preferred.  However, since she was the only one working and since Silent wasn't there to stop her she had shut off the stereo system and was feeding quarters from the register into the jukebox and picking out songs.-

- Once finished with her selections she watched the records spin into place and the spindle drop down onto the threads of the album.  The first of her selections was an old 90's favorite by Bush and her nonexistent hips moved smoothly to the music as her hands held either side of the jukebox.  The bar towel that was looped over her belt and hung behind her like a bartenders tail swayed right along with her.  When the scent of fear and wolf mingled in her nose that pert little nose crinkled and she stopped swaying and looked towards the door.-

Yum yum yum!

-Her beasts tail was wagging and the yummies weren't about hunger or predatory nature.  They were about seeing a new wolf who was scared and wanting to rub that smell all over her skin so she could keep it for later.  It was quite intoxicating.  A hand decked in exotic rings brushed back the heavy ropes of her blonde dreads, pushing them behind her shoulder as she moved away from the jukebox and towards Zach.  Nyx wasn't a very subtle creature, much like her creator, and she just headed straight for him with long slow strides that made her rail thin hips sway and her loose jeans hang lower with the movement.-

"You smell like good things." -Tri-colored eyes had a violet heat as she dipped her head close to Zach and sniffed along the line of his neck before rubbing her cheek against his in greetings. There was only one couple at the bar and they were so busy sucking face they probably didn't even notice anyone else was around.  Inside her white wolfs youthful exuberance beat away at the fear soaking Zach, not because she was powerful enough to calm his beast but because it was hard to deny that joyful animal at the moment.- "Who are you?"

-She pulled back enough to look him in the eye again and just kept moving into him so his choice was either to end up wearing Nyx pressed against his front or back up into one of the stools at the bar.-

All it took was a short phone call to Silent to get her here. Sirus had completed the task laid before him with relative ease. Steven had joined them, or at least that was the assumption, and that was the extent of any complication he ran into. Sirus brought up Zack's rear half expecting to see Silent around, and when he saw she wasn't he threw his index finger in the air while rummaging through his pockets for his cellphone. Zack's waiting for you at the Hookah, drop by when you can. The text was short and to the point, there was no need for beating around the bush here, after all, the man'd gone through hell for the last week or so without any packmembers there to lift him up. To answer Nyx's question, Sirus pulled his head from the bright screen of his Blackberry Curve.

"Zack, meet Nyx, Nyx, meet Zack." He said in smiles. Sirus never could predict Nyx's moods around him. Her annoyance with him kept him mystified at all times and that in turn annoyed him. She'd become quite the authority on how to ruin a good night's sleep just for the fucks sake of it. "By the way Zack, what Nyx just did there, grazing your cheek with hers, that's the shifter's way of saying 'hello'. Sometimes the submissive lycan can also choose to lick the jaw or chin of the other more dominant lycan." And if she permitted, Sirus decided to give her a greeting too, as if adding weight to his statement. Boldly moving close to his younger wolf sister, a bare cheek belonging to the immaculately white wolf kissed Nyx's smooth cheek softly. "You'll get used to it over time. ...Since Silent isn't here right now I just gave her a text, don't know if she got it or not, but at least she'll know that I got you."

Sirus stepped away from the two to give them a little time to bond, then there was more texting to be done. To Dee, Geller, and a few other names on his list. Sirus had been without a job for months and living off his savings leeched his nerves dry. Being sedentary for so long made him feel useless around Silent's apartment and with that friendly little thought in mind he thought he'd get his foot in the door with Geller by asking for a position there. "Oh, by the way Zack, Nyx's wolf is my wolf's little sister, though she doesn't often like things that way."

-Nyx let Sirus get just close enough to her cheek to think he could greet her and then 'psych!' she dodged and continued in her one woman course to push Zach onto a stool.  What annoyed Sirus brought her immense satisfaction whether that came in the form of stealing the covers, kicking him while he slept, or just plain being a pain in his ass.  They weren't real siblings but nonetheless she found just as much enjoyment in the sibling rivalry as any real sister would.  The fact that Sirus sometimes took it seriously instead of realizing it was just how she was said more about him than it did about her.-

"Oh, go chew on a shoe Sirus."

-Commented to Sirus with a laugh and when Zach was finally sitting Nyx climbed into his lap, legs straddling him, as she pressed the tip of her nose to his and just breathed him in deep.  Long lashes fluttered around her almond shaped eyes as she processed those smells carefully and rolled them over in both her and her beasts mind.-

"God you're really really new aren't you....your wolf is like..." -Looking shrewdly at the couple necking at the bar she leaned even closer into Zach to beat her fist on the bar at his back.- "Hey! Parties over, we're closed. You don't have to go home blabbity blah but you know the drill."

-The couple took one look at the blonde bartender straddling a man at the bar and probably decided it wasn't worth pissing her off.  They picked up their things and left and Nyx turned her attention back to Zach.- "Your wolf smells so.....fresh. Or something.  Can I keep you? I'll teach you lots of fun stuff."

Sirus rolled his eyes at her. Yeah, she annoyed him sometimes, but if she thought that was saying something about his character then she needed a serious looking in view. Most of the time Sirus didn't care about her antics but there times when he found her to be particularly childish that he said something about it. At most he felt disrespected, at the least bothered. Today wasn't worth quarreling over his rambunctious sister's need to peck at him, instead he'd offer her sarcasm with a playful yet horrifying truth.

"Only yours. I make sure to grind them up nice and good when you don't let me sleep."

Tonight she'd be coming home to a pair of sneakers worn down to a cloth pulp, drool and all sweetly dried on the inside.

As he took his first step into the building, the music was already doing wonders to help put his mind at ease. It wasn't Everything Zen in particular, but come on, everyone liked Bush to some extent. Zack let his head bob a little with the beat while he took a look around. He knew the general layout of the building, but was unsure of the specifics. You tend to not notice the finer decorations when your arm's gushing out blood like a juice box.

He didn't have long to admire the place, though. By the time the pup caught a whiff of another wolf, Nyx was already making her way over towards him. Since he was expecting Silent to be there, this new lady was certainly a nice change. Zack couldn't help but stare a little at the way she swayed as she walked, her movements mixed with the music was almost hypnotizing. He had to shake any of those thoughts out of his head rather quickly, running a hand through his unnameable hair as she neared. She seemed confident, but...more curious than anything. This couldn't turn out to bad, could it?

The greeting was the last thing Zack was prepared for. Owen had mentioned something about the typical greetings that shifters had for each other, but it still didn't get him ready for it. As she rubbed her cheek along his, the pup was already slowly shuffling backwards, his baby blue eyes darting around to keep out of contact with her own. “That...that's a good thing, right?” Zack stammered out a response that was as quick as his breath. The hell was this girl doing? She and her beast gave off this bright aura of playfulness, but it didn't stop him from feeling that this was all just...well, weird.

“I, ehh...guess I'm the new guy? Zachary. Zack.” Apparently, she didn't quite get the hint that he was trying to put some distance between them. For ever step he took backwards, she took another towards him. Sirus was taking the opportunity to introduce them both, and explain the greeting. “Wait, thats normal?” Zack replied with a bit of surprise. Getting used to my ass, he thought. That's just to damn strange. “Alright, Nyx...” He was still backpedaling towards who knows where while he talked. She wasn't giving him enough time for him to even begin processing her scent, or anything else for that matter. “...You mind backin' off a bi-” The pup was rudely interrupted by the bar stool he'd finally bumped into, and it took everything he had to fall on the seat rather than the floor.

His eyes went wider when Nyx followed him right down, straddling him on the seat. Finally giving up with a defeated sigh, Zack calmed himself down enough to take a deep breath of her scent as she did the same. “Lucky guess, how'd ya tell?” Zack said right back, still sounding a little nervous. He was motioning with his eyes and hand for Sirus to come bail him out, as he didn't want to just push her off. With the comments she was making about how young he was, she'd probably stay parked right where she was anyway. “Don't think I really got a choice if you keep me or not, do I?” The smile on his face had turned genuine, though he was just a bit uncomfortable in the spot. He tried giving her a push off, but it probably wouldn't get him anywhere.“I'm willin' to learn whatever you guys got to teach...just be gentle, ok? And I think I'm gonna get the shakes if I don't get a smoke in my system.”

"Don't be nervous.  I'll be real gentle with you."

- Nyx was nodding and she just looked so damn cute with the little silver Indian bells in her dreads making fae sounds and her violet eyes sparking with personality.  If Sirus tried to pull her off Zach he would get a wolf knee to the nuts for his trouble.  Leaning into Zach again she brushed her cheek to his other cheek a bit harder than before, really taking that scent of his and laying it on her smooth creamy skin.  Rolling her head back with an exultant sigh she looked across at Sirus with a lick of her lips. -

"I may not be able to teach him everything but I'm willing to bet there are some things you my dear brother wouldn't want to teach him....unless you've started batting for a new team."

-Nyx was being perfectly obtuse about what she was saying because she didn't want to freak Zach out anymore.  She wanted him to stay right where he was underneath her because she liked it that way.  Reaching long artists fingers into the front of her purple wife beater she drew out a pack of cigarettes that was held under the strap of her bra.  Pulling them out she used her thumb to flip back the lid and drew a cigarette from inside.  Placing it between his lips she pulled the lighter from the pack and lit it for him.  There, she helped!-

"There ya go honey. Smoke up."

She could try to knee him in the nuts. Sirus was her elder for a reason after all and his wolf was more experienced than hers, something he could easily lord over her if he decided that that card needed to be pulled. Add the fact that he was teetering on the edge of alpha-hood she'd find herself hard pressed to attack him. Sirus' lips cast a wry grin at his smart mouth of a "sister" as more of her taunts came aknockin'. "Even if I was batting for a new team what would it matter to you, sis?" The lethality in his voice was laden with his own brand of sarcasm. God, they did sound like real life siblings even if the human fabric they wore shared no common ancestry. He was mulling over a request for her to leave Zack some breathing room... And after watching them interact, he finally brought it into light. "Zack, you all right? You look uncomfortable with Nyx smeared all over you. Y'know, you don't have to have her wrapped around you like an anaconda."

Sirus crossed his arms with a defiant smirk playing the corners of his mouth. "That's if you don't want her to." Nyx, what are we going to do with you? It'd crossed his mind a million times, late at night he mused about what she would do if Sirus came out to the living room and turned the TV on while she slept on the couch. Hell, if she wanted to play games he could too, right? "C'mon blondie, you're making the kid nervous."

(Ash and Alex are coming from here : http://wickedlabyrinth.activeboard.com/t43875200/new-accomodations-ash-alex/ )

And that was the scene that Alex and Ash walked into as they entered the Hookah. Their talk had gone better then Alex had expected, and now, in need of food, and smokes, they found themselves in just that very place, also in search of clues on how to find the very wolf that sat under Nyx.

Comming in just behind Ashes, she blinked at the scene infront of her. She'd met Nyx twice now, but liked the girl for the most part. The other male, she had seen once or twice, but never really gotten a chance to talk to, and then the pup, because god, he was a pup. His beast barely a few weeks old. Having seen maybe one moon.

Moving past Ash, she frowned, walking forward in paint spattered overalls, with a smear of midnight blue paint across one cheek. Her blond hair having come free of it's tie, and hung around her face. But those grey blue eyes, stared intently at this wolf that had hints of Xavier's scent on him.

"Nyx...your gonna scare the poor Kid....I think Xavier did quite enough of that..." The words were soft, and held that texas twang. She couldn't help but watch him. Eye's intent on his face. What had Xavier been thinking when he'd attacked him? Because it had to be him. how many brand new pups could their be in town, that smelled like her brother? Oh dear god that was a scary thought all on it's own.

Shakeing her head to clear it of that immage, she pushed paint flecked fingers through her hair, and glanced at Ash, a look on her face that clearly said, she had no idea what the fuck to do now.

Ash and Alex had headed for the Hookah in hopes of finding Zach and low and behold that was exactly what happened.  The entire situation couldn't have turned out better if Ash actually were in control of the cycles of the universe.  When he walked through the doors of the Hookah he was all monochromatic intensity with blue lightning kissed eyes viewing the scene in a quick professional sweep.  It didn't take a psychic to see and feel what was going on in the Hookah.  A pale hand was placed on Alex's shoulder to steady her as she gave him that look.

"Zach right?" The clipped british accent Ash had delivered the words in a monotone that was dry of emotions. "You are lukoi, you are among friends.  If you want Nyx on your lap then enjoy, but if you don't you always have the right to say no."

It seemed like a simple enough thing to explain, but not all new wolves understood that they could say no to older pack members without repercussions.  Ash was explaining because it was better for Zach to choose than for them to choose for him.  That electric blue gaze fell on Sirus and he was reminded yet again that they still had not had time for that little talk of theirs.  Then again time was always hard to come by and typically Ash gave it to those who sought him.  There was no harboring of ill will towards the young wolf who had once been like a son to him, merely a vast wasteland of time and the inability to communicate. Regardless of whether Nyx stayed on Zach's lap or not this situation needed to be taken in hand and Ash was never one to gild the lily.

"Zach, you're a new wolf and a rogue.  That is an unstable combination running around free in the city.  Silent, the Ulfric here, would prefer that you join the pack for the safety of yourself and others.  Is that something you're interested in?"

Ash spoke calmly and to the point, making it clear that Zach had choices even if they were slim.  At least he spoke to Zach, asked him, instead of just assuming that he knew what the young man wanted.

"If you are you will need a sponsor.  A wolf to train you in the ways of your beast.  It looks as though Silent's pup Nyx would like to teach you part of your control and I don't see why that wouldn't be alright if you fancy her..." Ash shared a glance with Alex, because controlling the beast around sex could often be taught by someone other than the wolfs sponsor. "But you will still need a sponsor to teach you to commune with your inner wolf.  Alex and I came here tonight to find you actually, to offer Alex as your sponsor....and to offer you our home as a place to stay while you begin your rather unique education.  I think you'll find that living among others of your kind will be more beneficial at least in the beginning."

If Zach had any questions he could ask or share comments and concerns.  It should be clear though that Ash knew what he was talking about and that he had the Ulfrics permission to share such suggestions.  Besides which, Ash was not someone easy to say no to, not as a wolf or a man, but now the choices were for Zach and Zach alone to make.

Zack did everything in his power to pull away from her, but there wasn't anywhere for him to as Nyx rubbed her cheek against him again. Formal greeting or not, he wasn't comfortable with it at all. And if Silent told him he'd have to get used to it, then she wasn't gonna to happy. He wasn't really scared of Nyx, she seemed...friendly enough. This just didn't seem like it was something he needed right now, with all the stress he was already under. He sat there looking limp and defeated as she and Sirus bickered back and forth like a couple real siblings.

The smile did come back to him, though, when she pressed the cigarette to his lips. Zack smoked through it fast enough that it seemed he was inhaling more smoke than air for a solid minute. There hadn't been a cigarette in his system since before he shifted, then a couple hours after he had woke. For the chain smoking pup, that was hell. “Thank ya, Nyx, but...can't really breathe right now.” He gave her a sheepish grin, hoping she'd get off and give him a little space for the moment.

Luckily, more help had arrived in the form of two other wolves that Zack hadn't met before. He'd never seen them before in his life, but there was something about the girl...a subtle little smell she carried with her. It was the same one that seemed to faintly linger on him. He tilted his head to the side a bit at her comment, throughly confused at the scent and her words. “...Xavier?” His raspy voice was quiet, meek. The past 24 hours were just a little to much for the pup, and each little thing piling onto the next was making his head spin. As best as it could, anyway, with Nyx so close to it. “Sorry, but...I don't understand. Who are you?”

Her answer would have to wait, as the man behind her stepped forward and spoke up. “Yeah, that's me. Zachary Sullivan.” His voice picked up a little in response to his formal tone, and he tried to turn in the stool to face him. Even with the added weight, he managed to at least spin around enough so his neck wasn't hurting when he looked at Ash and Alex. He took the cigarette, now burnt down well past the halfway point, and did his best to reach it over to a nearby ashtray. Nyx, of course, impeded his efforts. “...I'm sorry, but this isn't very comfortable right now. Can you get off, please?” If she did or not was her choice, and Zack turned back to Ash as he continued his little speech. He'd wait until the man was finished speaking, though his gaze did shift over to Alex from time to time. Who the hell was she? And why did she smell a little like him?

“I know, I know. I'm lucky as all hell nothin' bad happened tonight, but that's not something I want to happen again. Been runnin' around by myself for to long, I get that. I...I appreciate that you're asking me, but there ain't no other reason for me to be here. Of course I'd like to stay with you guys.” He choked on his words a little, feeling like he was selling his own freedom. No, no, it wouldn't be that bad. He'd see Steven and Owen again, once he had a little more control. Hopefully. “Nyx? Uhh...” His eyes would slowly turn towards her, were she on him or off. He was taken by suprise with how forward she was, and he was never the type to try and move that fast. Of course, back then, he was human. You only live once, right? He'd leave that option open for the moment as he took another long drag from his cigarette, snuffed it, then started looking for something else to smoke. “I'd be cool with staying with you and...Alex.” Another pause at her name. Christ, who the hell was this girl? It was grinding at him for no real reason, but he couldn't shake it. “I'd just wanna grab some stuff from the apartment beforehand, but yeah, I could do that.” This guy was right to the point, but right now, that's what Zack needed. To be told exactly what was going on and what needed done. “I'm just...well, I was afraid of feelin' trapped.” Might as well bring it up now, and figure out if he would actually see his friends any time soon. “I'm not sure if I'm gonna be stuck with you guys for a while, or if you'd let me see my friends from time to time.” Fuck, Owen was probably crying in some corner right now, judging by how the leopard was talking on the phone earlier.

"Oh alright!"

-She said it begrudgingly as she climbed off of him.  Flipping the bird to Sirus before he could even think a nasty remark her way she wanted to scream at him or pop him in the fat head.  Didn't he realize that she'd been alone with her brother, her mother, and two gay cooks for the better part of a year! If anyone had a right to be tense if was Nyx.  Since leaving Russia she's been stalemated into seclusion so you better damn well believe she was frustrated and wanted to kick the crap out of Sirus every time he crawled into bed with her and Silent.  Kicking him was the only way to vent her other frustration, well not the only way but the only way that wasn't incestuous and bizarre.  As she climbed off Zach she tossed the pack of smokes to him.-

"Just cause you're a wet blanket doesn't mean you should be denied lifes little pleasures."

-Still if he thought she was an option he could keep open then he could just go stick his head right up Sirus's ass.  Moving towards Ash she brushed her cheek to his and licked his bottom lip quickly.  There was no sexuality in it whatsoever, of all the men in the room Ash was the only one who scared the bejesus out of her and for Nyx scary, while nice to have around, wasn't a turn on.  Alex got a brush of her cheek and then Nyx just threw her hands up in abject frustration and failure.-

"Can't even give the shit away........I'll go make fucking coffee."

-Then she was leaving them alone to talk more pack related business and heading back into the kitchen to brew some coffee for anyone who was staying.  No doubt Ash would want some and maybe Alex too.  Who knew.  Stupid night.  Stupid Bush on the jukebox.  Stupid America.-

With Ashes takeing over, Alex let out a soft sigh of relief. Though the looks that Zach was giving her made her twitchy and she knew they were going to have to have a nice long talk about what happend. And there would be buku apologies from Alex on her brother's behavior. When Nyx slid off Zach's lap though, and seemed a bit snappy, she frowned, wondering what was up. She'd been all over the pup. Not that that was really all that odd. Lycans were naturally very touchy feely. Something she'd have to explain to Zach. And while Alex didn't have any qualms about sex, it wasn't really something she was up for just now.

Plus..in some really weird way, it would be just....well...kinda like if Nyx and Sirus had done anything together. Weird and wrong in a strange insestious kind of way. Xavier and Alex had both been infected by the same wolf. Oddly, and unknown to Alex, that wolf just happend to be their father. And now Xavier had infected Zachary. makeing their infection lines a little too close for comfort.

As Nyx stalked off into the kitchen to make coffee, Alex blinked, glancing at Ash when Zach said something about letting him see his friends at some point. Might as well step up to the plate now right? "...Zach...what exactly do you think all this means? Your lukoi...and your pack now...but you arn't our prisoner. Staying with us at our place is for your safety, and the safety of others just now. your gonna be unpredictable and a bit dangerous for awhile, without an older wolf around to help you. But your by no means a prisoner. You can come and go as you please. See your friends if you wish. We're here for support, and to help you learn what you need to learn to be a good wolf, and to control who and what  you are."

She took a step forward, and lay a hand on his shoulder in an almost sisterly gesture. "We just wanna help you. that's all. Pack is family...and you got a whole new fucked up dysfunctional as fuck family now...." Giving him a one armed hug, she took a step back, then pulled free her smokes. Placing one between her lips, and lighting it, passing it to Ash, then lighting another for herself and takeing a drag. "The house is almost done. I still have a couple bedrooms to paint, but it's livable. How about you and me meet up tomorrow. I'll pick you up at your place, and we can go get furniture." Hell. they could get all the rooms decked out. Glancing at Ash, she gave that impish little smile that he'd know so well, after knowing her as long as he had.

"we'll even get stuff for your room!! I think a nice chip n'dale bed would be perfect for you!!!" Yeah...Alex was so gonna get whapped.

Silent had been meeting with the real estator to sign the paper work for Bryces old plantation over at the Eden Bar. Or she would of been here at the Hookah. She had been waiting for Sirus call. Even ment to tell Nyxie about it but when Nola called saying that she had gotten things wrapped up and Silent flew out the door. Pulling the custom chopper Lou made her she would kill the loud purr of the steel beast. In the air she could smell them all. Silent smelt him especially..Which may ..No it did explain why she stood outside the doors of the Hookah. Ashes scent layed heavy..Cosuming and intoxicating. Silent gathered herself. With everything...The insanity that had been happening...In his arms is where she wanted to be. Biting her lower lip she moved threw the doors. That cool and calm mask she wore at the hospital falling into place...This wasnt the time to be Silent. It was time to be Ulfric. Moving to Nyx and then Sirus she would brush her cheek against them. Whispering a small sorry to nyx. "Sorry I was taking care of some thing for the coming full moon" Tri colored hues burned brighter more primal. She had been spending hours out there. The munin of the tragic Ulfric had been stiring more lately. A small smile would move over her lips as she turned to Alex and Ash."How you feeling suga? We need to sit down soon princess about your little issue." Silent would tap her forhead."Welcome Zack. Weve been waiting for you." So many people to greet..Had her missing the days when it was her and Nyx. Tri colored hues would move to Ash. "Care to catch me up?"

Ash gave only the barest nod to Zach at his decision about joining the pack.  It was the right decision, a decision that meant he would be able to stay in New Orleans without the looming destiny of a lycanthrope jail or a silver bullet to the brain in his future.  That he had been adrift this long meant that he had either been aided by some very uneducated individuals or that everyone who should have been finding him had been extremely busy, probably a little bit of both.

When Alex looked at him before speaking he let the corners of his mouth give the slightest curl, the ghost of a smile that encouraged her.  It was time for Alex to learn to stand on her own feet as a wolf, as a woman, and as a member of the pack.  She was stronger than she gave herself credit for and he believed in her.  The fact that Alex didn't refer to caring for other wolves as 'babysitting' showed her maturity and dedication to the pack and the growth of her own beast.  It was honorable and as he stood and listened to her talking to Zach he was proud of her.  Still, he interjected one thing.

"Alex, I think it might be a better arrangement if you began today.  Why don't you take him to get his things, meet these friends of his."

The cigarette Alex lit and handed to him was taken between his middle and index finger, he smoked in the European fashion and always had.  Taking a slow drag he exhaled the smoke overhead.  It would be good for Alex to know who these people were that had been advising the pup previous to his arrival at the Hookah, and after such a long time without wolves Ash thought it more secure to keep him in his sponsors line of sight for the time being.

"Here," The keys to his Hummer were held out towards Alex for her to take. "There's enough room in the back for his things.  Just don't touch anything in the hold."

Ash had no current cases open.  They were all good and truly dead for now.  He could be without his car long enough for Alex to get Zach his things and take him to see his friends.  With the keys passing between them he turned to look over his shoulder as Silent entered the bar.  Past, present, and future all whispered in the room among the wolves.  So much history here, a lot of love, and the uncertainty of what the future would bring for them.  When her eyes finally turned to him he nodded and moved towards her, a pale hand touching her arm and guiding her slightly aside.  His voice spoke low to her but he wasn't trying to hide, he knew the other lycans could still hear.

"I thought under the circumstances that Alex would be an ideal sponsor for Zach.  I think they could both use it." His voice was soft, the accent lilting.  He hoped that Silent could read between the lines of what he was saying to her.  Eventually Alex and Zach would have to talk about their shared heritage but that was a conversation best left to the two of them.  Alex needed responsibility, a reason to heal her inner scars, and a chance to grow as a wolf and know that she could do more for those she taught than her brother had done for her.  And Zach needed someone to teach him about his beast.  The combination seemed near kismetic.

"It seems that Nyx has offered to teach him to control his beast during congress, but Zach is a bit intimidated by the girl so I think that offer has been taken off the table.  When he's ready I am sure you can find him someone suitable for the job."  Lightning kissed eyes looked towards Sirus and since he had no idea what the man was doing he assumed Silent did so there was no need to fill her in on that. "Zach has some friends he would like to speak to, make sure they're alright, and then he's going to pack up his things and come stay with Alex, Laney, and I at the house that Alex is fixing up."

Thinking about his last words a moment Ash added, "If his Ulfric allows." Showing respect for Silents title and governance in the matter.  It wasn't that Ash didn't respect her, just that old habits were hard to break.  He was not used to checking with anyone for matters great or small, but the pack was Silents and he would not dishonor her in front of these wolves by appearing to dictate to her.  It wasn't about who was bigger and badder, in this room Ash had no competition in that arena.  This was about leadership and here Silent was the leader, and he would treat her as such.

Now that he had a little bit of breathing space, Zack stood up just in time to catch a pack if cigarettes to his face. “Ah! What the hell?” The pup would stare at her as she made her rounds of greetings, snapped at him for not being the pig men are apparently supposed to be, and left. “I'm...sorry?” He'd try to say to her, but Nyx was already on her way out. With a shrug, he pulled out another cigarette, listening to Alex while he looked around the counter for a lighter.

“I just kind of thought...wait, what?” Zack had stop mid sentence to try and wrap his mind around what she was telling him. All this time, he thought that he was gonna catch hell for staying on his own for so long, and the squad coming to fetch him would be less than gentle. That hadn't been the case at all. The pack had been nothing but nice to him since they initially met at Llidya's warehouse, and everyone seemed to be at least trying to make him feel welcome. The tension and worry would visibly fall away from his face, with his old grin slowly coming back to him. Though, it was a little to late for Nyx. Bummer. “Oh hell, I thought I was in trouble all this time! That...actually means a lot. Thanks.” When Alex stepped forward, Zack returned the embrace, pulling her in closer and taking a deep breath of her scent. The familiarity of it would keep grinding at him for a while, but there wasn't much sense in worrying about it right now. From what Ash was saying, he'd have plenty of time to ask her about it later.

His eyes went a little wide with excitement when she mentioned needing furniture. Hell, he could help out already! “You kiddin'? My old roommates left all their stuff at the apartment when they left, there's a lot of stuff there you guys could use. It'd sure save ya some money, you know?” Barely an hour into meeting these people, and already they were making plans. Looking around at the group gathered around him, he couldn't help but feel like Alex was right. After not speaking to his own family for years, it seemed like this bunch was going to try and fill in. He still wanted to see Owen and Steven, to be sure, but it still made him happy that they at least wern't trying to stab him or something.

Just then, Silent stepped in. Taking a long drag from his cigarette, Zack sat back down in his stool, like he was trying to hide from her a little. Even after so much time had passed, she still scared him a little after their first meeting at Nate's apartment. Even she didn't seem to be all that bad now, though, giving him a simple greeting before moving on to the rest of the group. “Heh...hey, Silent.” He finally spoke up, keeping his voice steady. “Sorry for being so late...things have been kinda nuts, you know?” She didn't seem to pay much mind, instead letting Ash fill her in on what had been going on since the pup arrived. Whatever plans they were making, whether they were going to be moving him tonight or tomorrow, Zack was up for it. The ball was finally rolling, and he was happy for it.

The comment about Nyx had him shaking his head, a nervous laugh escaping his lips. “No, no. She seems cool, I just...it's not really what I want right now.” Fucking hell, he probably sounded gay to them right then. But, it was the truth: after the stress of the past 24 hours, he wasn't going to be useful to anybody until he at least had a little more sleep. Even after 8 solid hours after he'd shifted, the pup still felt exhausted. “Hey, whatever works.” Zack offered with a shrug to Silent and Ash on the last comment. He felt a lot more secure about the whole situation now, and he was willing to do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.  Looking around the room, he relaxed in his stool and puffed away at the cigarette given to him, waiting for their decision.

The moment he touched her..Those bright eyes darkend. Her beast threatened to rip her appart if she so much as moved. Silent may be Ulfric here. But Ash was her wolf King and as much as she denied it..Even to herself..He was still the king of her heart. Long fingers would move to caress his. Smiling some at the mention of Nyx being over whelming. Tri colored hues moved towards the kitchen where she could here her daughter slamming things around. They would have to have a talk soon. Things were going to come full circle come the next moon. Nodding she would lower her head some." Perhaps hes the perfect match to be drained by her....But the munnin she holds is what worries me." Silent would glance at Alex. Silent had seen her that night at the hospital...But it wasnt Alex in the princesses voice or movements...No it was to primal to....X. Glancing up she would tilt her head some watching Ash a moment...Sure everyone was here...But it had been so long..Her hand moving to tuck one of those inky black tresses behind his ear she would nod. " Zac. Youll be staying with Alex while you learn to control your beast." Silent would turn to feel the young wolf and Alex. "But come closer to the moon I want you both at the plantation. Especially you Princess." Silent would let the small (at least compared to many ) swamp wolf brush against the pup. "Maybe Nyx could join you two? Im guilty of being selfish with her. She could use some time with others." It was true. But in the insanity of life Nyx and the Capt had been all she had in the last six years. And even so...She kept so much from her pup...Having been burned by another...But soon that would change.Letting her hand brush over Ashes once more she would move towards alex and zack. Brushing her cheek against each. " Tell your friends Im not stealing you from them. And they are welcome here at the hookah whenever." After all it usually was the meeting place for the rats and wolves as much as it was for the leopards or any of the lycan community. Glancing over her shoulder she would smile some at Ash. Before turnning her attention to Sirus..."Hows Dee?"

Cadence arrival in New Orleans when somewhat smooth but they had lost one of her boxes full of her clothes in it which really sucked at the moment as they had her favorite boots in it. But she could buy a new pair. So after a couple hours of unpacking her stuff in the one bedroom apartment she had found a couple blocks from the Garden District she was getting bored. So grabbing a pair of combat boots sliding them on her feet before tying them up then grab up her keys for the apartment before heading out onto the streets. Walking around exploration the city for the time to clear her head and relax some. But also she needed to find the local pack of the city since she didn't want to be counted as being rogue.

So rounding one corner she would began to make her way down the street when she had caught the scent of another wolf which was somewhat familiar to her. That scent she remembers from New York for the short time she was there for a modeling contract and was working at this bar. So piercing blue eyes would glance this way and that before sniffing the air to follow the scent which let her to the hookah bar which made her raise a brow gently pushing the door open to quietly enter not knowing there was a whole bunch of people within. But they all smelled like wolf so she lean against the wall for the moment to wait for everyone to stop talking or maybe even notice that she was in the building. Letting her eyes fall on Silent since that was the scent that got her attention and made her come in.

Alex didn't realize that the voice she kept hearing inside her head was Xavier's munin. Never really having had much experiance with that sort of thing. And when Silent decided to enlighten her? She was probably going to freak the fuck out. I mean...your psychotic serial killer brother in your head?? Yeah! Lil Creepy!! So was probably a good thing Alex wasn't totally paying attention when Silent said something to Ash about it. Though when she was told that Silent wanted her especially at the Plantation at the moon, she looked at her ulfric with wide eyes. "Why specially me?" Alex took a step back, hands pushing forward, as if warding something off.

"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me. Can't prove it, and i don't care what that video tape shows!!" Paranoid much? A little. But on this, she was mostly being a cheeky little shit. Giving a grin, she settled onto a stool next to Zach, and continued to smoke as Ash and Silent talked. Ash's suggestion that they do it tonight was greeted with a nod. "Works for me. I can crash on one of the couches, so he's not alone in the house tonight."

The suggestion that Nyx come with them had Alex arching a brow, contemplating the suggestion. "Sure. I have no problem with it. Not like there's not enough room." Fucking seven bedrooms in the house. Plus the attic when it was eventually cleaned out and finished. Full finished attic? fuck yeah. It was just a matter of getting all the crap they'd accumulated out of there when they'd originally moved in. Alex scribbled the address down on a napkin, and putting out her smoke at the same time.

Sliding off the stool, she glanced at Zach. "Lemme go give this to Nyx so she knows where to go, and We can get started if you want." Eye's shifted to Silent and Ash. "If that's ok with you?" The question aimed mostly at Silent of course. It was still weird getting used to the fact that Ash wasn't ulfric, but Silent was. In Alex's mind, Ash was her Ulfric, and Silent her Lupa. It was what she was used to, and this changing of roles was fucking with her head.

Whatever Sil's answer was however, she'd slip into the kitchen, where hopefully the slamming of pots and cursing that Nyx was doing would soon stop, as Alex explained the situation to her, and gave the invitation to stay at the house with them for long as she'd like. Alex knew what it was like to be cooped up with only the same set of people to see day in and day out. It was enough to drive you batty. Handing the blond dreadlocked wolf the address, (which also had her number scribbled on it as well), she gave a wave and headed back out.

Glancing to Zack she couldn't help but smile. "Ready?"

Zack was content to chill on his little stool, watching them chatter amongst themselves. He'd thought about pulling out his phone and sending a couple texts out, but figured that could wait until tomorrow. It seemed like there was going to be more than enough happening tonight, since he was moving on such short notice. Not that he really minded, everyone seemed nice enough. Ash might be a little difficult to get along with, given his real formal and to the point approach to the situation so far. Hopefully, he wasn't like that outside of business, or there might a bit of conflict with the personalities. Meh, whatever. It'll all work out fine, he told himself while continuing to smoke the cigarettes Nyx tossed his way.

Silent was talking about Alex being appropriate for training him, but any comment after was blocked out while he watched take the seat beside him. Something about her scent seemed familiar, and Silent was saying they were perfect for each other. Something big was going on, but he was drawing blanks in his head for why. His trainer seemed like she was pretty friendly and open, and surely he'd be able to ask her about it sometime down the line. Probably while they were moving his stuff, which seemed like it was going on really soon.

Sounds like a plan to me. If you don't mind me askin', though, what's so special 'bout the plantation?” Curiosity brought him back from Alex to the rest of the pack. “Just curious, is all.” When she moved in closer, Zack tensed up a bit at her touch, but not as much as with Nyx. He was still a little uncomfortable with it, but he returned the gesture as best as he could, figuring that he'd might as well start getting used to it. “Sure hope it don't get more complicated than this.” The pup commented to Silent when she pulled away, snuffing out his second cigarette and reaching in for a third. “It's already hard to remember the little tweaks to that one.” He nodded when Alex walked off to give Nyx the address, motioning for her to hold up for a moment. “Hey, tell her I'm sorry, alright? She'd probably bite my head off if I went in myself, from the sounds of things.”

Once she returned, Zack returned the smile, having already lit up another cig. “Sure thing. Lets get rollin'!” On their way to the door, he stopped and let the new girl pass. Plenty of new faces, wasn't there? He'd offer a nod to her, then continue on his way out the door.

Whether he and Zach’s personalities conflicted or not was hardly at the top of Ashes top ten things to think about list.  In fact, in light of recent events it probably wouldn’t make any such list at all.  With people disappearing, alien imposters killing people, brothers being eaten, and rats destroying Marcus’s house Ash was downright fine with a little thing like personality issues.  Besides, his job and position hardly enabled him to be a warm and fuzzy bunny for the benefit of the crowds.  It was yet another reason that he was more than happy to leave Silent the role of leader of the pack.  No matter how much fatherhood had changed him he would just never quiet the Dark Passenger long enough for cuddliness.  Maybe it was better that way.

“I’ll get Laney and have a talk with her then meet you back at the house.”

He responded to Alex’s question about going with Zach to get his things.  Alex would be busy for awhile with helping Zach and getting the house set up so that gave him some time to take care of matters at the swamp in preparation for their move.  As Silent reached up to tuck his hair behind an ear he assisted the motion by leaning his head down to accommodate their height difference.  Once they were close enough that he could hide his words in a low tone he responded to her comment about the munin.

“Don’t worry Sil.  She’s got this.  She’s stronger than she gives herself credit for.  She can control him, he just doesn’t know it.”

They separated then as Silent went about talking to Nyx and dealing with other things and Ash nodded to Sirus, tapping the face of his watch and then pointing to an empty table at the other end of the Hookah.  A simple signal that they should sit together for a bit as soon as things quieted down.  No time like the present.  Alex and Zach were leaving to take care of his things and Ash gave a subtle wave of his pale hand to Alex, a silent promise to see her again soon.  After Silent finished asking Sirus about Dee, but before she could go speak to Cadence he stopped her with a pointed look.  Walking to one side he waited for her to follow.

“Listen, maybe you should make sure Nyx wants to come with us pet.  Our house isn’t the pack house.  It’s not fair for you to fill it with whoever you see fit on a whim.”

Ash was drawing a set line in the sand.  Silent had the pack, but by God he was not going to just let his private space become an open ground for anyone Silent flung at them.  He had an executioner to train and his own deadly business to tend to.  Letting out his breath slowly he looked at her with that intense highlighter blue gaze. He knew this was hard on her, it wasn’t easy on any of them.  Having three strong independent people in one pack, each trying to do their own thing while still respecting leadership wasn’t supposed to be easy.  Come to think of it though, Ash had never actually told Silent he would even join her pack.  So far he had just happened to help out when shit hit the fan.  It was something worth remembering.

“I had a moment at the hospital a few weeks ago to speak to Geller after you left.  He has some things he wants to talk to you about and…I think it might be a good idea to listen to him love.  It’s….they’re good ideas.”

At the moment he couldn’t really say more than that.  Really he wasn’t even sure what he wanted to do in regards to the pack, to Geller’s ideas, to anything.  He had been so busy flying from one disaster to the next that it felt like things were never going to slow down, but he was sort of used to that after all these years.   Reaching out he let his fingers lightly hover over Silent’s colorful dreadlocks, brushing them very lightly before taking his hand away.

“I need to talk to Sirus and it looks like you have a new wolf to speak to.  An Ulfric’s job is never done.”

He should know.  They both should.  The job wasn’t like anything else.  No paid vacations, no unpaid vacations, 24/7, 365, always on duty and expected to be at your best.  He didn’t envy her the appointment.  Letting Silent go see to Cadence he moved towards the table that he had pointed out to Sirus so that the two of them could sit down over a cup of coffee and finally have a long overdue chat.

(Ade and I will play out the rest of Sirus and Ashes chat in IMs and I will post the log link here once its up.)

By the time he and Sirus finished talking the Hookah was filling up with patrons.  Ash called someone from the swamp to come give him a ride since Alex had his car and then he waited.  When Silent passed he said, “Don’t forget, you still owe me breakfast.” A reminder that their day for a personal chat would come soon.  Until his ride arrived he made a mental to-do list for the rest of the day, things now heavy on his mind and in need of attention.  Once Tommy picked him up they drove back towards the swamp and Ash gave Laney a call to let her know that he was on his way.
