Jett had been released from the hospital. Finally! he would say, but would be put on light duty returning to work. Such a quick occurance it was. Brand new to the force, fresh out of the academy, and already involved in a case that landed him in the hospital. Of course, it was more than simply that, as his meeting with Natalie had told him. Johnny and the Captain were dead, and Natalie was in a different department. He recognized her because he had seen her in passing, but she was still not associated in the sort of cases he would be. She handled tougher stuff. But due to her visit, he deduced... maybe he had found his way, albeit not purposefully, into her jurisdiction.
There I am, Up on the stage
He had a feeling that her questions, although short and not too invasive, were asked for a specific purpose. She was not someone sent by the Commisioner to check on him, nor was she merely curious about what he found. She was asking because it had something to do with her case. He figured, it was the V. He knew about the recent uprisings in V, and it made him curious. And so, the fact that he was still a youth began to play. He would connect his cell phone to a computer, and print out the pictures he had taken. He brought them down to evidence and turned them in. He even saved the pictures as well to a computer storage device and turned that in with them.
There I go, Playin' star again
And so, after that was done, he went into searching about the V. He wasn't told he could get involved in that case, and he would more than likely get in trouble for poking his nose in, but he wanted to know. He wanted to know what he had been involved in, and what he had really stummbled upon in that warehouse. Mainly because... why did criminals so obviously focused on smuggling V around be also interested in military-grade weapons.
There I go, Turn the page
And so it was, on this day, taking a break from his research on that case, and those events, and how it all connected, that he walked down the streets in civilian wear. On duty, he was confined to desk work, because his need for a cane for the time being to walk around would not lend himself well to even regular traffic stops. It was on this day, while walking down that street, that he would come upon a bookstore. "A Real Page Turner." It peaked his curiosity, and made him cant his head as he looked in through the window. A quaint little place, that made him think back on places he never knew. He had a bastard of a father, who was English. And due to his personal feelings toward his own son, never had any of those cherishing father-son moments with Jett. Jett would dispel these thoughts almost instantly, but the English vibe he got from looking in the window made him curious, and so inside he would go, and begin perusing the shelves. He didn't look for anything in particular, but as he browsed two things remained in his mind. The V case, and his own personal research needs of the Elemental.

- Alastrina had heard the bell over the door jingle. So Alastrina would make her way down the loft area with her book which she had her nose buried in from her studies which James had givin her. Short blonde hair was pulled back away from her face. Piercing blues glance down at the man within the store with the cane. Dress today in a pair of walking shorts with a navy blue tank top that says " spank me baby I like it .." reaching the bottom step as she spoke - " Welcome to a read page turner do you need any help looking for something ,Sir ? "
James was on his way down the stairs from the fenced off section. he had his eyes buried in a book while he took the steps one at a time. an absent wave of his hand, and the gate slammed shut behind him. he Often didn't take the temperature of the room when he was knee deep in a book. "I think I've found a good introduction to evocation book for you, It's in imperial English... so it should be easy enough for you to read." he smiled up at her as he snapped the book shut. and then gave her a bit of a disdainful look. he was Very British, almost too British to think that the shirt she was wearing was even a proper thing to wear outside.
"I've been meaning to talk to you about the slogan T-shirts... I really don't think that you should wear them about the store, doesn't really present the proper impression." It may not have been the first time he'd mentioned it to her, maybe he was an old fuddy duddy in that way, after all James usually dressed in business casual while at the store. he gave the book a toss and bounded up the single step to walk behind the counter. " I was also thinking that we could start practicing your shielding again I've made yo-" he had already pulled out the silver charm bracelet that he'd crafted for her for use as a focus, similar to how his watch worked when he realized that he and Trina where not alone."... We, have a customer... " he smiled big and bright to the man then."Brilliant! Hello there sir.... I uh, trust my lovely assistant there has already made herself livable to you." and then after a moment he spoke up." I mean, for, helping you... made herself available for helping you, in the store."
and of course the previous subjects where completely ignored and swept under the rug. Wizards didn't just go telling others what they where. secrecy is the wizards greatest weapon. Lesson one of Wizarding.
He "hobbled" into the bookstore, on his cane, and moved along the outer wall inspecting the books collected within the store. He had nothing that he was specifically looking for, so his steps carried himself slowly through the aisles, looking over everything to see if he would find anything of interest. The voice of the femme greeting him would bring his eyes over the top of the row of books at his eye level.
"Hello there." He said softly, as he brought his eyes back and resumed looking about. "Not really looking for anything specifically. Just happened to notice the place, and thought I'd pop in." Of course, that was only partially true. He wasn't specifically looking, but should he find something to do with his selection of skills, he would be inclined to grab it from the shelves, but he doubted that such a thing would be out in the open given the danger of the normal humans reading up on those sort of texts.
Then, the other came in, and as he went on about Evocation and Shielding while tossing around books and charms, he remained silent behind that book stack. Sometimes being short was a benefit. Damnit, now he made himself refer to himself as short. He smacked his forehead. And so there was a guest, a customer. He slipped out from behind the stack, with his cane, and folded his other arm behind his back. He'd smile big, and play things off as if he had heard nothing about the magic talk, and nodded lightly as he would also brush off the verbal slip up.
"Yes, she has introduced herself, and offered to help." Obviously, he was very uptight, and concerned about expression and how it might be misinterpreted. It was a positive trait, but at the same time a humerous trait of an old fashioned man.

- Alastrina would glance over to James as he said something about her shirts and there slogans. Frowning some as she looked down at it before looking back up to him - " What's wrong with my shirts ? It's not like we get many customers in here ...and plus they are good ice breakers...but if you don't want me to wear them around the store anymore I'll wear boring plain T -shirts for now ..when I work." - Her eyes would go widen when James when into talking about shielding and evocation when there was a costumer in the store. Her hand would go across her neck to stop talking but it was to late letting her head dip to let her chin touch her chest. -
- Then would raise her head back up as she moved to the counter to take the silver charm bracelet from him as she would placing it around her wrist before sitting her book on the counter next to James to hook the bracelet. Then would glance over her shoulder at the customer as he came around the book shelves to let James know that she had offer her assistant to the man if he needed to find anything special -
He tried to think of a rebuttle to that, but god bless her heart, she had a point. while the shirt was rather inappropriate, it certainly was an ice breaker. and after sizing her up for a moment he gave a nod." Right-o then, the shirts can stay, but you need to wear pants. no more spandex" He smiled down at her charm bracelet as she was putting it on. " I'll teach you more about that later."
A last smile to her and he turned his attention to his new customer. "I get that alot" he said with his best shopkeeps smile. "Usually by people who are really looking for somethign specific." his tone was absolutely friendly as he stepped up to the man."Tell me, what was the first thought you had before opening my door?"
People usually thought things immidiately that they either didnt realize or didnt say. but there is always a search for somethign that drives someone to enter a store. little fact of the biz that James had picked up over the years.
Jett nodded his head lightly to James' words, as he slipped away from the stack a bit fruther, and closer to the middle of the room.
"To be honest, I thought that it reminded me of back home. Though, I then wondered why I thought that, for I have no memory of England."
His eyes danced about the place, looking over every little detail he could warrant focusing on, though at the current time, his focus had drifted from the hope of finding a book of interest to the man before him. Out of the corner of his eye he would glance back now and then, for there was a familiar sense of .... familiarity .... that he was getting from the man. He couldn't explain what it was, either for that matter.
Alastrina would look between James and the customer blinking some before she would move around the counter to lean against it some as they talked before fiddling with a book that was back there flipping through the pages some. Before picking up a pen and finding a scrap piece of paper as she began to doodle drawing some weird shapes and symbols out of boredom until the customer needed help finding something.
Letting piercing blue eyes look up to the back of James head as she looked around him to the man . Wondering where he had come from in thinking that this book store reminded him of his home which was weird.
