Package for Lorissa
Permalink

Steven still hadn't heard from Lorissa.  He had left her the voicemail, but never got a response.  Hopefully she was still around town.  He would swing by the Hookah, but Silent made it pretty clear to him that she hated his fucking guts.  So he stayed away.

The mail would suffice for his purposes, hopefully.  He wrapped the velvet lined silvery box in brown butcher's paper.  After carefully notating her name and address on the package, and from whence it came, did he head off to the post office.  Thirty seven minutes and seven dollars later, the box would be on it's way to her residence overnight.

The package contained several pairs of the highest quality satin gloved he could find in New York when he was there.  His favorite were the long opera length white satins.  Atop the gloves in the box, there was a simple note.

"Lori,

I'm sorry for leaving so abruptly and not calling.  Please accept my apology.  Or if not, just let me know you are still safe, and I'll let you be if that's what you wish.

                                                                                                  Steven"

To say the tiny goth girl had been keeping busy would be putting it mildly. When the package arrived she'd just hung up the phone in her office, gloved fingers on one hand still wrapped in the cord as if it could have been a lifeline. Blue-green eyes lifted as one of the bartenders brought the package into her office and set it on her desk before quickly leaving. Her lips pursed together as a raven brow lifted up. She stood up, having to stretch out across the desk to reach the box and set it in front of her, heavily-lined eyes widening slightly when she saw who it was from.

The smallest of frowns touched her lips before she tried to untangle her fingers from the mess it had made of the phone. It didn't take long for her curiosity to rip open the box, and with a soft gasp, she fell back into her char and stared at the many pairs of gloves. Long lashes lowered over her eyes as she sat in shock for a minute. Slowly a hand moved and pulled out the note written there for her, scanning over Steven's words.

Teeth bit into her lip before a long sigh was let out and she sat back unable to do anything but laugh. Not that the gift was particularly funny, it was actually very nice. No, she had to laugh at the fact that no matter what, her life just liked to play enormously cruel jokes on her. Shaking her head, she slowly covered the box back up and then sat back in her chair, letting her fingertips drum rampantly across her desktop. "Fuck!" Why was it every time she turned around, things had to turn into a complicated mess. Truly she had to be cursed, or something? And for the first time, she wasn't thinking about her telemetry either.

Lori didn't exactly know how to respond to the gift, the note, or the man himself. She wasn't mad at Steven anymore, it just was what it was. Slowly she pulled out her phone and sent him a short text message.
