Lou hadn't forgotten Ash's blades, or rather blade. He'd given her the wrist sheaths for 2 blades but there had been only one in the bloodied bundle, obviously the other was lost in the battle. No worries, that just meant she had to make a match to what he'd already had. It gave her something else to think about rather then all that had occurred, soemthing else to focus on. And to be honest, it had been a long time since she'd worked on weapons, something she'd once enjoyed.
Working silver was dangerous and tricky. Silver alone did not make a good blade, it didn't hold an edge with a damn. Instead it had to be merged with steel, not the easiest task in the world, but one she'd once perfected. Using the original blade as pattern she first made a new match, layering steel and silver together, carefully hardening and tempering and then polishing to a perfect microscopic razored edge. Sheaths were cleaned of blood and re-oiled with neats foot oil to protect and return to sensual suppleness. Once she was done with the repairs she grabbed her phone, placing a call to him.
"Um.... Ash, its Lou. I have your blades done... just tell me where and I'll drop them off. Oh... um, there was just one blade in what you gave me so I made another to match. And... well, I have some ideas of other things you might like... or not.... so... I don't know. Maybe if you want to see my designs. I don' t know. Maybe not, I know you got a lot of stuff already."
Ash had not purposefully delayed returning Lou’s call, it was just that time sometimes got the better of him. He had been visiting with Alex and generally trying to figure out what to do now that the Rodere had trashed the swamp house. Moving in with Alex had been the best option for many reasons and he was glad to give her the company she seemed to seek. So his call came a few days later than the message she had left, but he waited patiently as Lou’s phone rang and then left her a message.
“Lou. I got your message pet. Sorry for the delay. Don’t drop them off…let’s meet so I can have a look at the match…and your designs.” There was a pause in the message as he was mulling over something in his head. “I always like getting new toys.” It was in answer to her statement that he already had a lot of stuff, but really could a killer have too many weapons of destruction? “Come by the new house (insert address, date, time here lol) and we’ll have a chat about hardware.”
He didn’t say goodbye, just hung up. It was a very old habit and not something he was even aware needed to be broken. Slipping his phone into his pocket he wondered what the red headed wolf might have come up with in her spare time. Only one way to find out. And if she was talented then he could have her make a set of bladed weapons for Laney, the girl would need them soon enough.
When she finally woke she was still sandwiched by the twins, silent corpses during the day. She slipped carefully from between them, hand lifted to brush her fingers along the side of her throat, shivering lightly at the memory of pain from the bites; such a contrast to Ramsey's bite and yet she welcomed.... needed... both. She shook her head, dropping her hand and grabbing a tshirt to throw over her form before searching for her phone. She blinked at the messages it had captured, moving to the kitchen to replay them.
Ash's voice had her near stumbling, eyes widening as she looked back to the bedroom, secure in sheltered darkness before she moved quickly to the ktichen, instint more then intent carrying her to stand in a ray of warm sunlight. She replayed Ash's message again, freehand lifting to capture a lock of hair, tugging it to her lip to gnaw on softly. She hit redial, fidgeting slightly as she waited for his phone to answer.
"Ash.. um... Lou. Yeah, I'll bring some stuff by the house, that'll work. Sorry I missed the message, I've been... swamped.... but yeah. I'll be there."
She disconnected the call, moving slowly to the fridge to grab out a large bottle of OJ. Yes, with the time she had been spending with Ramsey she was making sure she had supplies to help her recover. For now she'd start on the OJ, then she'd throw a meal together. Then she'd try to figure out how she was going to meet Ash and not let him know about the pair of vampires currently in her bed.
