Flash had been laying low ever since the accident, he hadn't even been able to get his money for that job and now, well now he was starting to feel the pinch of not having any cash. He was starting to get that itchy feeling that said maybe he should just leave town when he saw the ad.
OK, so he wasn't a burlesque dancer but he knew how to put on a show. He considered the ad, considered trying to put down some serious roots for once and next thing you know he was calling the number. He listened as it rang, almost hanging up before it was answered.
"Oh, yeah, hey. Look, I'm not a exotic dancer or burlesque but... I've got an act that might... I don't know. I was wondering if I can get just a minute to show you what I can do."
~Dita was currently in Geller's office when the phone rang. Of course, his phone was nothing like hers; the cream vintage antique where the dial swirled to each number, but this one would suffice for now.~
"Dita Von Teese. How may I help you?"
~Usually Dita would never pick up the phone; she always had assistants to do that for her. However, just arriving to New Orleans, not only was she auditioning for performers but also a personal assistant.~
"Alright darling. Before you audition with me, just tell me briefly of what you can do since you are not auditioning for the burlesque show so I can get an idea of how you would fit into the show. What are your talents or gifts?"
To be honest, he hadn't expected anyone to answer the phone, expecting to leave a voicemail so even aside from the whole having 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts he was more then a bit disconcerted to be speaking to what was apparently the star of the new show.
"Oh... um... well... I.. I'm a fire dancer and manipulater. I have all my own gear, used to do busking... um... street shows basically but I'm... well, I'm sort of thinking I might be able to do, I don't know. I mean, I don't need to perform, if you want pyrotechnics for your other acts I can do that too." Yeah, he was probably sounding like an idiot but then he'd never had to do something like this before. He fidgeted a little, waiting for her response, free hand snapping his fingers, watching the flame dance along his skin before he snuffed it again.
~She nodded, listening quietly as he spoke of his gifts, rather talent, that he could do. And it truly sounded remarkable. To have a fire dancer and manipulator during her own performance, or afterwards or before could really heat up the shows for the audience.~
"Well sir, that sounds truly wonderful! I would love for you to come audition for me. Here, let me write down your name and number to put into the scheduling book."
~When he gave her his name and number, the pink, feathery pen danced true to her own feather performance, jotting down his information, and booking him in an empty slot.~
"Okay, I have you booked on Monday at 2:00pm for your audition. Unfortunately that is the only time slot I have available before the grand opening the first weekend of August. And, if your gifts impress me, which I'm feeling they probably will, you could perform as well grand opening night. Thank you for your interest darling! I cannot wait to see what you can do. Ta-ta!"
~Before hanging up, she gave him the address and phone number of Betwixt and Between. Shortly after hanging up the phone, a smile creased those raspberry glace lips. A fire manipulator could do wonders here, she thought, and she would have to tell Mr. Duncan and Mr. Geller soon.~
