The Hunt For Zoe (Open)

-The ride on the back of Lou's bike had actually been kind of exhilarating.  The wind felt good, refreshing even against his skin, and it helped to wake him up from the near comotose state he felt like he'd been in.  Before he knew it they were pulling up in front of the house and Trent climbed off the bike after Lou had it leaned on the kickstand.  It didn't look like Ash was there yet.  Actually, it didn't look like anyone was there. Looking over his shoulder at Lou he pulled his keys out of the pocket of his jeans.-

"Maybe we should check the house while Ash is on his way.  We can see if there's any sign of where Zoe went."

-Seemed like a good enough idea of where to start.  At the very least maybe they could get Zoe's scent off her things and track it.  Trent just hoped that wouldn't require one of them shifting.  He didn't want to be the one with a collar and a leash leading Lou and Ash through the city hunting humans.  It just stunk of a bad idea.  Fitting his key in the lock he held the front door open for Lou and then closed it behind them.-

"Hello? Anyone home?"

-It was wierd and eerie how empty the house was.  There were so many people who lived there that it was usually never this quiet.  Trent started towards the stairs towards Zoe's room.-

"Her rooms up this way.  I feel a little pervy going into her room when she's not here.  Normally I stay as far away from Maya and Zoe's part of the house as possible. Those girls are crazy."

-He meant it in a good way but he still meant it.  Moving through the house he stopped in front of Zoe's closed door and opened it for them, pausing a moment on the threshold before going inside.  The room looked normal, no obvious signs of an intruder.  Then again what did Trent expect? A big sign on the bed that said INTRUDER WUZ HERE.  Probably not.  Looking around the room he finally turned to Lou and shrugged.-

"I don't have any idea what to even look for.  Where would girls keep their like secret stuff? Stuff that might give us some clues."

She could feel the exhileration he was feeling from the ride on the bike and it made the ride that much more fun for her. There was nothing like racing through the streets on a big bike but it was more fun to share, it was just that simple. And she'd learned a long time ago to savor moments of fun whenever they came, even in the worst of situations. Once they arrived, she guided the bike to park, letting him dismount before kicking the stand down and climbing off herself and following him to the door.

"Maybe we should check the house while Ash is on his way.  We can see if there's any sign of where Zoe went."

She followed him inside after he opened the door, deep breath taken to taste the scents within. Not that she knew Zoe's scent but maybe she could see if there was anything unusual in the air.

"Hello? Anyone home?"

She trailed after him as he moved up to Zoe's room, frowning slightly as she sought to untangle the mix of scents in the air. Geller's for sure, a vampire? maybe and... she shook her head, no knowing the others well enough to determine which scents should be here and which should not.

"Her rooms up this way.  I feel a little pervy going into her room when she's not here.  Normally I stay as far away from Maya and Zoe's part of the house as possible. Those girls are crazy."

She chuckled softly at his words, if a little nervously. The house was.. empty, it just had that feeling. Odd.

"I don't have any idea what to even look for.  Where would girls keep their like secret stuff? Stuff that might give us some clues."

"I don't know. I mean, I have notebooks everywhere around my place." She shrugged a bit, "Why don't I look through her dressers and closet so you're not poking at her clothes." Since some girls probably would fuss about a guy poking through their 'unmentionables'. "Is there any scents in the house that shouldn't be here?" She asked as she started to look through the dresser, hoping for something that would give a clue as to where Zoe was.

"If Zoe is missing, I would start by visiting the Twins.  Be careful, they are very old and very powerful vampires. And for some reason, she has taken a shine to them or they to her. It may be that she is with them, or it may be something else entirely, but it is a good bet they could know where she is."

The words Nike had told him as he left the hospital continued to play through his head.  Words taunted his mind as he pushed the large vehicle into overdrive and sped towards the house where the other two wolves were waiting.  From his pocket he pulled the slim black droid and dialed with one hand while the other maintained a steady grip on the wheel.  Multi-tasking. Look it up.  He waited as Trent's phone rang and coming to a corner the tires sqealed as Ash tested gravity going around the corner.  Finally, Trent answered his phone...

"Trent, it's Ash.  You and Lou be waiting by the curb.  Trent get in front, Lou in the back.  Be ready to jump in. We have a lead."

Ash hung up the phone when he had finished and just hoped that the two of them would do what he said.  The seating positions were assigned because of a sheer gut instinct that Lou would know more about weapons than Trent and he needed her in the back able to identify and hand him what he was asking for.  Very old very powerful vampires were Ash's specialty.  You could say it was his life's calling.  So much so that the vampires even had a name for him, something to frighten fledglings with at bedtime.  Pale tattooed fingers gripped the steering wheel hard for a moment and he almost regretted that there were only two of them; twins, special.

His lightning kissed blue eyes snapped with vibrant fire as the heat of blood lust filled his body and made the Dark Passenger chase the night.  His wolf watched the Dark Passenger from behind silver shields and waited to see if he would be needed.  Pulling up to the curb Ash gave just enough time for the two red heads to scramble into the car and then he was pressing on the gas again and burning rubber.  All that rage and heat of the expected kill would have made most men jittery or anxious, but Ash wore it will the stillness of an ice covered lake.  It fed him, nourished his soul, and brought complete serenity in its wake.

"We're checking a lead.  Could be at least two vampires there, old.  Trent, never shot a gun before?" Ash was guessing but a nod from the man turned his guess into a fact. "We'll park at a distance and I'll help you shift.  I want you to do a circle of the paremeter and give me a lock on who's in the building.  I can't get close until we're ready.  If they're as powerful as they're supposed to be they'll feel me and they'll know somethings wrong.  Once you've had a chance to sniff things out I want you right back with us.  If Zoe's there I'll go in first hard and fast.  All I want you two to do is get the girl, get her to the car, and take off for the hospital.  No questions.  No looking back."

The orders were given calmly in that crisp British accent, an almost bored tone to it all as his eyes snapped with blue fire and he drove them at a racing pace through the city.  Ash wasn't used to being questioned and he expected obedience, a fact that was obvious both in his manner and the way he delivered his orders.  His chin gave a slight nod towards the back indicating Lou.

"Behind your seat there's a black bag.  I need you to pull it out and hand me the wrist sheaths, and the extra clips.  There's an extra gun in there, it's Llidya's but it should fit your hand Lou.  I want you to load it and use it if you have to while you're getting Zoe out.  But remember that your first directive is to get her to the hospital, not to try and fight these things."

As she handed over the wirst sheaths he used his knee to steer and carefully strapped the black sheaths onto each forearm.  They fit like a glove, perfectly sliding past his hand, the loop fitting snugly against his thumb as he pulled the straps tightly into place.  Once they were both on, their six inch silver blades glinting where they showed, the black fabric covered the mass of scar tissue on the inside of his arm.  The extra clips were taken from Lou and he carefully fit them into their place on his shoulder holster, set up for a low grab from the waist if necessary.  With that done they were almost there and he slowed the Hummer to a roll, flipping off the lights and slowly creeping to a spot that was a few houses down, his shields locked so firmly into place that he was sure he would go unnoticed from this distance.

Really one part of him was hoping that Trent would check the place and find Zoe alive and well and discover that this had all been a big misunderstanding.  But the other part of him, that part that sang the deadly tune of the Dark Passenger, was eager for the kill.  Motioning for them to be quiet Ash climbed out of the car and moved through the shadows like he had been born from them.  Once the three of them were crouched in the darkness beside one of the houses Ash turned his attention to Trent, reaching out a hand to touch the boys temple and then softly slide over his eyes so he would close the lids.

Letting out only the barest whisper of his power the smell of the Scottish Highlands intensified for a moment and Ash forced that shivering tendril of energy into Trent.  The boy didn't explode out of his skin, Ash had more control than that.  It was as though Trent skin turned to liquid, his body swiftly and gently sliding into its new form as clear goo sprayed off and onto the grass around him.  Once the white wolf stood in Trents place Ash had his hand on the side of the wolfs long fur covered muzzle.  He could speak to the beast with his primal thoughts, a last order to hunt quietly, safely, and return.

As Trent kept low to the ground his wolf form would soon blend and disappear around the houses leaving Ash alone with Lou.  Putting his back against the bricks of the house he stayed crouched, the muscles in his legs burning just slightly until he grew still to maintain the position.  Eyes were trained outwards, waiting for Trent to return, and when the white wolf loped back to them from the shadows Ash once again reached long pale fingers to brush at the wolfs temple.  He could gather the beasts thoughts to him, primal visions of the smells that had been picked up.  Wolf to wolf they came like black and white images licked through with scent and sound.  A nod was given and then he looked at Lou, the steel hard bite of his electrically lit eyes confirming their worst case scenario.

It was time....

There was nothing from the search, nothing special that stood out to her anyway. The scents in the house, in the room were nothing unusual, and there were no notes o letter left behind to say where Zoe had gone. Everything looked as if she'd just gone out for the day. No packed bags or anything to indicate differently. "I don't see anything here." Further words interrupted by the ring of Trent's phone.

Who needs a speakphone when you have shifter's hearing right? Ash's words had her darting for the door, caling over her shoulder to Trent, "I need stuff from my bike," an explanation for why she darted out so quickly. She'd been trained well, having been bonded with an Master of the Dragon line Lou knew more then most realized she did about war. And even before her bonding she had always had a knack for crafting metal, something used now to repair motercycles but had also so often been used to craft weapons. Once outside she reached into the saddlebags of the big, tugging out a pair of bracers: steel and leather that fit perfectly on her arm. She didn't have to test them, she knew that a twitch of her hand would ahve the 6 inch silvered blade extending along the back of her hands, something that gave her a little bit of an edge in hand to hand. The Taurus 9 mil fitted with rosewood grips came next, snugging it into the waistband of her pants, pair of clips with silver tipped ammo weighting her pockets. She'd been drilled over and over to always be armed, even in the dull years alone here in the Big Easy it was a habit she'd never broken. The weapons might not be on her body but they were always nearby.

When Ash arrived she'd leapted into the rear of the car, delicate skin paler the usual, amber eyes gleaming darkly. It was hard in moments like these to ignore the gaping blackness in her mind where Raine used to be but she kept her focus on Ash. The words were barely out of his mouth before she was twisting to recover the bag of weapons, passing forward the things he requested, artisans' eyes making note of the blades and sheaths. "If you need more silvered blades, let me know. I... I can make whatever you need." It had been a while since she'd made blades but the skills were still there. "I have a Taurus, silver ammo. Raine... he was Dragon, taught me..... a lot."

Once they arrived she slipped from the car, easing silently behind Ash as they took position around the house. Her eyes slitted shut as she focused on her other senses, sound and scent, to see what she could pick up. She waited as Trent made his circuit, tempted when he returned to rub her hand along his ruff, offering and receiving  but instead she held her pose, waiting for Ash's signal. She nodded when he turned to her, feeling the steely tension that made his eyes almost too bright to bear and nodded, ready to follow whereever he lead.
