Alex blinked, and actualy balked at getting out of the Hummer. Laney had come to pick her up from Titus's place. She needed clothing, Her dog, and well...as much as she loved spending time with Titus, she needed her pack right now. Though getting Alex to actually admit that might take more power than Laney had just yet. As they'd entered the swamp, her nails had dug into the upholstry of the seat, and she'd let out a low growl. Pupils dialating, and body trembling ever so slightly. Her beast paceing back and forth. Back and Forth, agitated.
That sneering voice, thick with it's texas twang that she'd grown up hearing seemed to echo inside her head. The hell makes you think they want you back here, little girl? Get yer stuff maybe and get back out...The pup only came to get you cause she dosn't know any better yet...Your a freak. and they know it....
It was almost an echo of what Xavier had said so many times when comming down to drug her. giving explinations that only his twisted mind could come up with, as to why she wasn't being rescued by her "pack" taunting her. Tormenting her. Alex shook her head sharply, and with a frustrated snarl, shoved the door of the hummer open once Laney brought the truck to a stop, and cut the engine. Stalking towards the boat, she waited for the younger girl, and managed to pilot it across to the house, without capsizing them, or crashing into a tree. Score!
Climbing up the steps, with Laney behind, she took in a deep breath as she stepped through the door. Letting the scents that filled the house of those that she'd been slowly comming to think of as family, fill her nose. Only to have that breath woosh out of her once more as she was tackled to teh ground by a large white fuzz ball that weighed as much as she did, if not more! Helix was barking in loud booming barks that echoed through the living room, body vibrating and tail going a mile a minute, as he sniffed and licked at his misstress. As if intent on makeing sure she was there for real, and all in one peice.
Finally getting him to shush, she threaded fingers through his fur, and got back to her feet stiffly. The bandages on her wrists were dirty now, from dog slobber, and she made a face. Glancing at Laney, she gave a small smile. "I'll be right back..." And disapeared into the bathroom. Closing the door behind her, she let out a shakey breath, and closed her eyes. She was safe...She had to keep repeating that to herself. Even knowing that her brother was dead, and by her own hand...er...well mouth, she had to keep giving herself the silent reminders.
Peeling off the soiled gauze, she washed the deep, raw wounds from the silver chains on her wrists. Already having a low silver tolerance, and then having silver pressed against her wrists for almost two weeks, was almost more than the little wolf could take. It would take awhile for the wounds to heal. Wrapping each wrist with fresh gauze, and securing it with tape, she soon made her way back out and into her bedroom. Discarding the clothing she'd borrowed from Titus again that day, she slipped into a pair of her own sweats and a tanktop, and soon padded barefoot back out into the living room with a pack of smokes, and her lighter, and sank down onto the couch.
Lighting a smoke once it was placed between her lips, she ran fingers through the fur of Helix's head, and stared off into space. Laney seeming to have disapeared to her room for the moment. There was something just...not quite right now, about the little blond wolf....frowning slightly, she shook her head. Post traumatic stress? Possibly....bad genes? Could be....chemical imbalance? Again possible. Being raised by a man with psycotic, homocidal tendancies? Yeah..that'd do it....Alex was trembling after awhile, bringing her smoke back up to her lips to take a long drag.
