+ Crixus lay on the bare wooden floorboards in the living room of the mansion and stared blankly up at the ceiling. If his eyes saw anything at all it was the dancing floating spirals of his own madness wickedly delighting in his capture. His brother had been gone now a week? A month? Perhaps longer. For all he knew Crius had left an eternity ago or never existed at all. Perhaps all that he thought were memories were only the disturbances of his addled and precocious mind. If it weren’t for the tiger who now and again visited, sometimes finding him lucid and other times in a state ranging from comatose to feral, then he would probably have torn the veins from his arms as he spiraled into darkness. He had thought perhaps he pushed Crius just a bit too far that last time when he ripped out Natasha’s throat and threw her body down the stairs but he had no idea that his brother would take the assault so personally. Then again, for all he knew that hadn’t been why Crius had left at all. Really his hold on reality was slipping so much that he was second and third guessing himself until he couldn’t have assertively claimed to know anything. Well, maybe one thing. One thing he knew for certain was that he had been warded, magically trapped, in their mansion ever since Crius had left. Every servant in the place was drained dry and now he hadn’t really eaten in so long that he felt the hunger burning inside him like a living thing. His throat felt raw with his need, his tongue thick and heavy inside his mouth, and more than anything he wished to hear a beating heart or shudder of breath, something living to be chased and torn apart so that he could feed. The blades of the overhead fan spun slowly casting shadows upon the walls. He didn’t move. He laid there like a cold and perfect corpse grown ashen and pale with neglect…..
…..Crius had gotten all that he could from Natasha, had drained the woman of her usefulness and any aid that her sire Cornelius could provide. He was certain that the spell would work if he could only find one last element. But, before he had been able to go any further in his trials his brother had very nearly killed their ward. Though Crius would not weep for Natasha’s death he thought it better to leave her alive and safe just on the off chance that she might be useful again one day. Something about the woman seemed to raise his twin’s ire to a fever pitch and the two of them in a room together was really about the most annoying thing that Crius could imagine. So, after the incident on the stairs, he warded the manse with Crixus inside and took Natasha’s still healing body with him to deliver her to more suitable guardians until she was needed again. There was a special place he knew of where you could put such special things, trinkets you needed to store until you wanted them again. He had known that the trip would be long and lead him deep into the ice capped mountains where his Blood Line sprang from. Marius would take Natasha in no doubt, he was a collector of oddities and could easily keep the woman in his thrall for as long as was needed. She might not like the affront to her ego but surely it was better than being eaten alive by Crixus…..
……..at some point he had risen from the floor and flung himself at the door towards the sound of nightly activity just out of his reach. From deep inside his throat a purely animal sound emanated and his fingernails slashed at the oak door so hard that they left scratched deeply imbedded in the wood. Of course he could not leave. Had he forgotten? His brother face flashed in front of him, mocking him, and then he realized it was only the mirror hanging upon one of the entryway walls. In a rush of rage he tore the heavy mirror from it’s perch and flung it recklessly across the room where it smashed against a wall raining down shards of mirrored glass that made a sound like a wicked symphony. That rage had not burned itself out and though the manse was already torn asunder he went about his destruction with the fruitless energy of someone who has lost all other sense of the world around him. He was someone for whom the world has narrowed to only one sliver of existence. That existence now was an impotent rage that rained down on the furniture, banisters, and anything he could get his hands on. +
As the taxi cab pulled up to the mansion, the french girl suppressed a small wave of apprehension that swept through her. She hadn't seen or heard from either of the twins since the fiasco that had been the masquerade ball. No matter how hard she tried, Zoe still could not remember the details of that night any better then she had the morning after. The only thing she knew was that her head had ached like she'd partied a little too hard, her limbs had been sore, she had a few interesting bruises, and probably the most startling fact was that her beautiful gown had been ripped to shreds.
At the time, she'd been frightened enough to disappear while the sun was still high over head and neither one of the brothers would be able to follow her, but now, she had to wonder if her running away had been a mistake? She didn't think they would hurt her, or at least, she knew, almost intuitively that Crius wouldn't hurt her. Crixus on the other hand, was another matter altogether. Pushing the thoughts from her mind, she exited the cab after paying the driver, and made her way slowly to the front door, her fingers running up and down the skirt of her dress out of nervous habit.
She knocked and waited, listening to the empty echo of her fist resounding on the wood. Chocolate colored orbs glanced around, and it seemed as if the entire house had been abandoned almost. Biting into the plush softness of her lower lip, she frowned and tried the door handle, blinking in surprise when it turned easily under her grasp. She wondered where the servants had gone off to, and if the twins had truly left, her heart beat picking up slowly, as if crying out in protest at the thought.
"Hello? Is anyone here?" Her words were barely above a whisper as she took the first few steps into the mansion, her movements slow and cautious. The scene of the calamity in front of her almost had her turning about and fleeing almost immediately. The place was a disaster, as if destruction itself had been rained down from the sky and torn through the inside of the mansion without a second thought. There was broken glass and shattered pieces of furniture strewn everywhere, and with it, her heart accelerated as she felt a small grip of fear squeeze around her.
Despite the heat, a shiver raced down her spine as her breath came out in tiny gasps. The more steps she took into the mansion, the more something inside screamed at her to turn and run away, but she couldn't. Perhaps it was a testament to something inside her, but the moment Crixus entered the room, she felt him. Instinctively she knew who it was, even before she turned her gaze on his haggard appearance. Her tongue escaped the confines of her mouth to dance along her lips in a nervous gesture.
Something was wrong, she didn't know how she knew, but she could feel it with a certainty that was frightening. "Crixus, what happened here?" There words were barely out of her mouth before he moved with such a speed that was impossible to follow closing the distance between them, the only thing she could do was let out a terrified scream as she saw the strange look in his eyes.
Caspian let himself into the house, taking a deep, sharp breath when he caught the scent of a woman. Well, that wasn't quite expected. The scream made him move faster, as did the fact that the house looked wrecked.
When he saw the scene, he sighed and moved forward with his own impressive speed. Cas put himself between the girl and Crixus, just in case the vampire decided he wanted to attack something. The tiger wasn't assuming he'd win the fight, but... well. He'd survive a little better than most others would. Caspian was still bleeding from the cut he got in the alley and he needed - wanted - a goddamn shower but Crixus had obviously lost his mind (again?) and gone on a destructive rampage. Maybe he should have stayed in tonight, but the vampire had seemed almost comatose the last time he'd been over.
+ At first when Crixus heard the thudding of a heartbeat he thought that it was his imagination. After so long with only Caspian’s fast lycan rhythm to distract him he felt like he would never hear a human heart again. The sound stopped him so suddenly that he looked like a statue carved of pure white marble, his veins standing out like blue beacons against the pale skin. Oh, he could survive for months without food, but it was only survival. He could not truly live without feeding more regularly, and his penchant for insanity was often driven to the brink by periods of infrequent sating of his blood lust. Only when he heard the girls voice call out to him did he turn towards the sound of that voice…..
+ Ideally the wards should have held people out while keeping Crixus in, but magic was hardly an exact science. Crius of course was on the other end of the Earth during the weeks that followed with absolutely no idea what was happening in his absence. He knew that his brother might go a bit mad, but really that was nothing new. Other than that Crixus was perfectly powerful enough to survive without feeding for great lengths of time. If he didn’t think his brother was capable of it then he wouldn’t have taken the risk. He knew of course that Crixus would be upset, but that was a better price to pay than leaving him unattended and wandering in the city. Or so Crius had thought. By the time Zoe was entering the mansion Crius was already on one of the Anubis Airline flights headed towards New Orleans, safely protected by an airline that specialized in travel for the solarly challenged. He had no idea what he would be coming home to…….
+ She was asking him a question but he only vaguely recognized her. Something about her tugged at his memory as he stared at her and the next thing he knew he was moving towards her. Slowly, by his way of thinking, but faster than her human eyes could make sense of in the moment. Then the scent of tiger filled his undead senses and that rainbow colored beast inside him rose with a snarl at the man between him and his food. Vaguely his mind made sense of who this was and he didn’t want to harm the cat. No. He just wanted the prey. Moving like lightning he spun, swept around Caspian and slammed into Zoe with a clap of bodies that had them falling to the wooden floor in a heap. Reverberations from their landing shook the wood boards and his sinister arms and legs coiled around the girl so that it would take the jaws of life to pry them apart…..
+ Crius thanked the woman who handed him his carry on bag as he was exiting the plane. Blue eyes flecked with gold like lapis fluttered closed a moment as he exited onto the tarmac and breathed in the jasmine scented night of a New Orleans summer. He didn’t know how, but he would make this work. Somehow the spell would be done and his brother would be made whole again. That was a promise he had made so long ago it was almost like a memory from another life….
+ Blood filled his mouth as his fangs tore roughly at Zoe’s neck. That rich fluid soaked his parched throat and he felt his flesh begin to fill out as he drank her down and savored every drop. Fangs pierced through her neck as his lips suckled at her like a grateful infant. Distantly he could hear screaming and could feel Caspian yelling at him and trying to convince him of…something. Not important. Life flowed back into him and chased the shadows from the edges of his mind. Finally…after what seemed like forever…he let his body come free of Zoe’s. Crixus tumbled back against Caspian who was tugging on him and the two men fell to the floor. Rolling over in the tigers grip he found the man’s lips and shared that taste of blood, sealing it with a kiss so hot it could have melted the skin off the man’s body. Rough hands gripped the tiger’s arms, pushing at his chest and wanting to rid the man of the impertinent clothes that were in the way of Crixus being able to feel Caspian’s skin against his own. He wanted to dig into that flesh, to fill Caspian with the heat of the erection that even now pressed against the other man’s thigh. Then he heard Zoe say something…just the smallest shuddering whimper…and his distracted mind realized suddenly who the girl was. It still took him a moment to stop feeding at Caspian’s mouth, but at last he broke the kiss, parted from the man, and turned to look at what he had done. +
For a moment, it seem that time slowed down to a crawl as things started happening way to fast for the french girl's mind to comprehend properly. One minute, she'd been staring at Crixus, and the next, Caspian was standing in front of her, trying to calm the ravenous monster down. In that second, all the muscles that had tensed when Crixus had moved on in her started to relax, and that was all it took.
In a blur of motion she couldn't follow, the vampire snaked around Caspian, crashing into her with a force greater than any her body could ever withstand and they tumbled backwards. Her head cracked hard on the wood flooring and her vision swam as the cold hard body landed ferociously on top of her, pushing to expel the air from her lungs in an agonized cry.
All she could feel was the pain. Her body ached, and she had to fight to even pull in the tiniest breath. Her eyes fluttered closed trying to shut everything out, before a new sensation pierced her like red hot coals set to flesh. Her body jerked of it's own volition when her neck was brutalized to sate the demons thirst. Fingernails dug into her palms and Zoe tried to lift her arms and beat at the back of the monster on top of her, stealing her life away. Her lashes fluttered, and she could see feet standing close by, but knew that the person they belonged to could not help her now.
Tears gathered in the corner of her eyes and fell as she felt the suckling at her neck, the fangs probing deeper into her torn skin. Her fists pushed against Crixus again, but even she knew she was fighting a battle she couldn't possibly win. Somehow, she knew he wasn't going to stop, that her life would end here. Her thoughts whirled a mile a minute as she wondered and hoped that her loved ones would be alright. A series of screams ripped from her throat from the pain, the frustration, and the fear of knowing that this was it.
As suddenly as it started, she felt the weight lifting from her, the fangs pulling away. With the mouth no longer catching the blood that flowed from her veins, it now pooled around her on the floor, coating her hair and ruining her new silk dress . She heard a thud, though it seemed as if it came from a great distance, and her eyes tried to focus on the bodies that lay not but a few feet away. She tried to move, but her limbs wouldn't respond to her brain's commands.
She felt lethargic, and a chill swept down her spine. She ached everywhere, but instead of a sharp hot pain, it had lessened to a dull throb. Zoe was no fool at this point, she knew what was happening to her, and as her eyes took in Crixus's form, her lips opened forming the word, "Peace," even that one word was enough to make her whimper, and start coughing. She hoped he understood, she was not mad at him, could not fault him for his nature. Her thoughts turned to his brother, and all the things she'd never say. She wanted to apologize for running away the morning after the ball, but she knew she wouldn't be able to convey the sentiment now. After the coughing stopped she forced her eyes to open again and spoke once more, "Love..."
With that her eyelids fluttered shut, and her body relaxed. Her heartbeat continued but was growing faint, she wished that she could see Crius again, just one last time, and then her world went completely black.
Caspian spun when Crixus zoomed by and, for at least a second, considered leaving it at that. But some part of him, a part he would likely deny existed to anyone that mentioned it, felt he shouldn't just let Crixus kill her. He growled and grabbed the vampire's shoulders, wrapped an arm around his chest to try and pull him back, the other actually attempting to pry Crixus's mouth off Zoe's neck. Easier said than done, even for a tiger. The scent of blood hit him like a brick to the head.
Then, rather suddenly, there wasn't any resistance against Caspian's grasp and the momentum sent them both backward. He grunted when he hit the floor, but didn't have a lot of time to think back to the fact that his head had just bounced off the floor because Crixus was apparently in a damn good mood after his fresh meal. Caspian groaned under the kiss and pushed up into it, not exactly turned off by the metallic taste of blood shared between them. Vaguely aware that the woman was probably dying over there on the floor... he might have been a little sorry to say this would not have been the first time he had sex within feet of a dead body. What? He'd be the first to admit he'd had a pretty fucked up, though comparatively brief, life. A few buttons had popped off his shirt and he'd already half shrugged it off when Crixus pulled back, possibly coming back to his 'right' mind.
Cas pushed himself up onto his elbows and looked around the vampire to get a view of the girl bleeding out on the floor. He leaned close and nuzzled Crixus's neck. "Hnn, should we do somethin' 'bout that?" She wasn't dead yet, he could hear her faint, struggling breaths and the throb of her heart as it tried to pump what little blood she had left.
+Crixus would not have adaquate time to answer Caspian. The vampire was just beginning to disentangle himself from the other man when he felt a sudden rush of heat flood his limbs as the wards around the house were dropped. His head whipped around, lapis bright eyes glaring through the disordered array of his smooth black hair as the front door opened and Crius came in on the scene. At once a fine tremor of lethal intent swept through Crixus and he was on his feet in a heartbeat, his back to Caspian, his eyes trained on the mirror image of himself standing in the doorway. Hauty lips were peeled back in a smile as deliciously dangerous as the man who wore it. How on earth he managed to look pompous and arrogrant when standing in the middle of such utter chaos was anyone's guess. All he knew was that Crius was to blame for this with his own maniacal dealings with magic and his obsession with that damnable spell.+
"Welcome home brother." +Crius heard the coolness lacing the words. He had expected Crixus to be angry, that was just par for the course. Even in a right state of mind his twin had never been the level headed of the two of them.+ "If I had told you what I was going to do you would have never forgiven me and besides...." +But the words were cut off when he came fully into the wreckage of the living room and saw Zoe's body laying crumpled and near death on the floor. His eyes flicked from Crixus to Zoe and then to Caspian.+ "What have you done?"
+It might seem that he was asking Caspian since his eyes were narrowed on the tiger, but his words were meant only for his brother. The rapacious words spit out with a sillibant hiss as he moved closer. For a moment he saw not Zoe laying there but their sire. That night had been so long ago, in the wilds of the Western Reaches, and it had been drenched in rain. This scene was very different but the flashbacks kept assaulting him nonetheless. Finally he tore his gaze from Caspian and looked at Crixus who stood there seemingly uncaring yet he had no idea what was really going on inside his feral brothers mind. Crixus had not wanted Zoe to die, he knew the purpose Crius had for her though and death might have been more of a kindness. Still, he had not meant for that death to come at his hands. Still, even in madness the mind of a senator does not waste time in frivolity. Already he had a plot of his own hatching that would set assunder his brothers plans and perhaps enrich his own. Though of course he hadn't known until the moment Crius walked in the door that things would turn out so much in his favor.+
"This is your doing brother. As before so it is again. History repeats itself." +There was venom barely concealed in his words as he stared down his brother almost daring the other man to come at him or his tiger. They were old, both of them, and sometimes that age made them forget that mortals have a far smaller capacity when it came to matters of time. Caspian most likely didn't understand what their words hinted at and as they talked, deriving pleasure from the others defeat, Zoe lay dying on the floor as though they had all the time in the world what to do with her. Crixus's voice cut with a razor's edge.+
"What will you do this time brother? Save the girl or save yourself?" +Crius didn't appreciate his brothers tone. Nor the airing out of their personal affairs in the presence of this tiger that had so recently become his brothers companion. Glaring at the two of them he cut his lapis eyes to Caspian.+ "Leave cat. This is a matter for me and my brother to handle on our own."
+ Crixus didn't want to turn and look at Caspian. Part of him was still wary of what his brother might do and he had learned long ago not to turn yourself from such a threat. From within him he coaxed his beast to rise, the female tiger Queen donning her rainbow of fur with the same cocksure regality as befitted her. From deep inside the rumbling chuff of that beast called to the other tiger, enticed, and coaxed his beast closer to her.+
"Caspian."
+Crixus whispered his name from between lips set in that arrogant smile. Reaching a hand towards the tiger without looking at him Crixus let his fingers trace a careful line down the other mans spine. He liked the way that felt and part of him wanted to leave with the tiger just to prove a point. Then at least he could finish what he'd started earlier. But Crius wasn't backing down and with a sigh Crixus let his hand drop to his side.+
"Go ahead Caspian. I'll help my brother handle this....but I'll find you...soon enough."
Caspian quirked a brow and crossed his arms over his chest when Crius ordered him out. Perhaps it wasn't a healthy habit to challenge vampires of their age and power, but he didn't take kindly to that tone. He wasn't a dog and he didn't--
He huffed when Crixus chimed in. Alright, so maybe he'd take that voice into consideration at least. Gold eyes shut for just a moment when the vampire's fingers ran down his back. "Nnn.. alright."
He glanced at the girl he was leaving behind, vaguely concerned. But he nodded. Yeah. Okay. Hopefully he wouldn't see her in a missing person's ad or anything like that any time soon. His beast brushed by the strange rainbow female he'd been getting to know.
"I'm sure you will, homme. I ain't all that hard ta find. Try an' behave your damn self. I'll be back if I don' hear from you." Just to check. He grinned, even gave Crius a polite nod before heading out. He made sure the door was shut, locked behind him. Well.. warded or not, they didn't need anyone just waltzing in off the street right? And now he had to find a place to rest and have a damn bath, but he'd probably fuck up his own apartment. He wasn't in a great mood... partially because he wanted to know what the hell was about to happen. Curiosity and cats and all.
He muttered and grabbed his phone out of his pocket. "Hey Jenna? Sorry ta wake you up, chere... think I might need some stitches. Yeah. I'm headin' over."

When Ash burst through the front door he didn't let the impact slow him down. Lips were pulled back in a smile of such deep satisfaction you might have thought he was arriving at a surprise party. Orienting on the stench of the creatures he held one of the loaded MARK XIXs in each hand and within a fraction of a second they were trained on his targets. Ash neither slowed nor hesitated, he just shot. The sound of gunshots was deafening as he kept moving forward, pushing the vampires back from the body on the floor as some of the shots made their mark.
From the corner of his eye he could see Trent and Lou racing towards Zoe's body where she lay on the floor, but he didn't have time to worry about them. They knew what to do and he trusted them to do it. One of the vampires had crashed to the floor and he turned both guns on the second one as he attempted to leap at Ash. Then, all hell broke loose....
Lou followed Ash like his very own redheaded shadow, petite form racing behind him as he burst through the door. She peeled off to his side as he began to fire, wincing at the sounds of the shots echoing around her, ignoring the muzzle flash and focusing on the scent of blood. A flick of her wrist and the blade extended from the bracer on her right hand, ready to slash at any that intercepted her on her route to her target, going in low and fast to skid to a halt by Zoe's form. Tiny as she was, she was a lot stronger then she appeared, one arm all that was needed to scoop an arm beneath the bleeding girls waist and pull her upwards. Then she was pivoting, hopefully Ash and Trent were keeping the path clear as she started to head back towards the door.
+Crixus could hear Caspian on his phone as he was leaving the house, but soon enough the tigers presence faded away completely. Narrowing his lapis eyes on his brother Crixus's face was set in an expression of bored irritation.+ "You know I might have wanted to use that later."
+Crius seemed uninterested in what Crixus had to say on the matter. He was down on one knee already beside Zoe's body with his head cocked to the side as he tried to listen to the girls breathing, her heartbeat, and all those little signs of life that were fading. A cool hand reached out to cup the smooth surface of Zoe's cheek and he whispered her name softly, her only answer was a soft barely audible murmer. Crius lifted his head and let his eyes settle on his brother.+ "Well. Get me a knife Crixus. I'm not going to eat at myself like some kind of animal."
"I suppose the implication is that I'm an animal?" +With an exasperated sigh he had crossed the room to find one of the shards of glass from the broken mirror and handed it carried it towards his brother. Too lazy to look for a real knife. Dangling the piece of glass between his fingers he handed it over to his brother carelessly.+ "Next time perhaps you'll think twice before attempting to teach me a lesson......."
"Quiet Crixus. Now is not the time." +Zoe's vitals were fading as he sliced the large shard of glass across his wrist. Where the bladed edge passed his skin split and blood welled. Quickly, before the wound could heal he squeezed the blood into Zoe's mouth, not enough to cause much change, but enough to slow the process of her demise until they figured out what they were going to do with her. Sadly, that chance would never come.+
+In the first instants of the confrontation Crixus took two silver bullets, one in the back and one in the side, and only because of the quickness of the attack and the fact that he was standing while Crius knelt. At once Crius launched up from the floor and threw himself into his brother, taking a bullet in the chest for his trouble. The twins were out of sight for the moment and Crius was on the ground with Crixus crouched beside him, bleeding profusely from the wounds that had been inflicted. Crius hadn't tried to attack, he had smelled Geller and the hospital, had realized what the wolves were there for and tried to get his brother out of the way.+ "No Crixus..."
+But it was too late. Crixus was in a rage as he flew towards the wolf with the gun flinging his power at the man in a backhanded fashion and coming up against those silver shields like flinging his powers against an inpenetrable force. But nothing was unbreakable. He didn't care about the girl or the wolves trying to drag her away, he slammed into Ash with the force of a speeding train and knocked the guns from his hands. Their bodies were flung back from the force of their impact and they collided with a wall, plaster and debris reigning down on them.+
+Crius watched and waited until the two smaller wolfs had gotten Zoe away. He didn't want to fight them, didn't want Zoe to be hurt, but he also wouldn't leave his brother at the mercy of this gun toting dark knight. Once the others were out of the way he lifted himself from the floor as much as he could, a hand raising as he whispered to himself, singing his primitive song and gathering power to his hand.+
-Trent was a bundle full of insanity and nerves by the time he and Lou burst through the door behind Ash. Still in that white wolf form he shot like white lightning straight for Zoe's body, standing between her and the vampires with his lips curled back and a growl trickling from his throat. He would maintain that spot while Lou lifted Zoe up and started backing out and then, Trent spun on his heels and ran ahead of Lou to clear a path through the front door in case anyone interrupted them.-
-Thankfully Ash had the situation handled and Trent didn't have to back up that growl. From the power flaring through the room he wouldn't have been a match for either of the vampires. Trent led the way to the car, a white flash through the grass and when they got close he took two long bounds forward and leapt into the backseat of the Hummer. Large paws slid on the leather seats and maybe tore them a little as he tried to stop himself before his massive body went crashing into the door on the other side with a tumble and a bang.-
-Straightening his body out Trent let Lou lay Zoe's head down on his soft fur covered body, the girls arms curling around the white wolf like she knew he was familiar. Trent's muzzle turned, neck stretching to lay his head on Zoe's shoulder comfortably. He offered warmth and protection to the girl in the backseat while Lou took over as driver; and god help them if Ash hadn't left the keys in the ignition. He barked low when they started to move as though even the wolf wanted to tell Lou to get out of there in a hurry. This was not the kind of place that he wanted to be for an extended stay.-
Lou was focused on her assignment, grab Zoe and get her out. Trent was keeping her path clear even as she hauled the other girl up and against her form, racing for the door behind the white wolf, barely a glance given to the Vampires that had been looming over her. Ash's gunfire had driven the pair back away from what appeared to by their prey. A twist of her wrist retracted her blade again as she shifted the girl in her arms. A surge of power made her gasp as Crixus' strength battered Ash's shields. Then their bodies were crashing together even as she darted out of the door again with her prize.
Part of her was howling, snarling in frustration as she loaded Zoe into the backseat, settling her against Trent. Ash was alone with the pair of vampires and there was no denying the rage in Crixus' snarl. She wanted to go back to help but.... she had her orders. "DammitDammitDammit!!" She cursed as she found Trent's shirt to wad up in a bandage, pressing it against the wound in Zoe's throat, not even realizing it had already begun to heal from the blood spilled by Crius. "Try to hold it, I know its hard this way but... hold it."
Time time time... she needed more time.. more help. Getting Zoe situated and into the front seat of the Hummer was taking too long and Ash was.... alone. "Dammit!" She had to get Zoe to the hospital but it was tearing her up inside as she stomped her foot to the gas pedal, only preternatural reflexes allowing her to keep the big truck on the road as she broke all the speed limits in town to get Zoe to the hospital.
Another bullet sliced through Crixus just before he knocked the guns aside and slammed his body into Ash. The two of them went sailing backwards from the force and Ash felt his back crack against the wall. Most would have tried to distance themselves from the vampire, but with another matching twin in the room Ash didn't think that opening himself to them both would be a good idea. Power laced down his arms and his flesh molded with the ease of liquid silver, claws like blades sliding out to grip at the vampires flesh. Those claws dug deep and held fast to Crixus as they smashed to the ground.
Thrusting up with his hips Ash forced them into a roll and when he came up on top straddling the other vamp he released one claw from the mans side and slashed downward in a tight arch that slashed across the mans face removing the cartilage of the nose and carving deep strokes into his cheek. Meanwhile his other hand plunged deeper, digging through the mans flesh inward. Claws raked the vampires insides, tearing at wet flesh and reaching for the vampires heart.
Sculpted lips curled in a snarl and then he felt that power building from behind, his shields trembling at the feel of it. He was trapped between two vampires that were over a thousand years old and their age and power was crushing. Dropping his shields he let the full force of his beast blast outward as it rarely ever did, freed from it's prison to blast outward towards the other man, that power hit like a nuclear blast with claws and teeth of its own. Then Crius's power struck out at him and he was thrown from his perch atop Crixus, claws breaking ribs and making a mess of the mans midsection as he was thrown free.
Ashes body skittered across the floor, sliding on the wood and using his bodies momentum to bring his legs underneath him. He came to his feet at the end of the full turn, one of the knives from his wrist sheath already in hand. He could see the vampires moving faster than a dream and he aimed and threw as fast as lightning. The knife spun end over end and caught one of the brothers, but then they were gone. It happened so suddenly that all Ash could do was let the air slowly out of his body as he moved in a low crouch towards the spot on the floor where one of the guns had fallen. Hands melted swiftly back into human form as he picked the gun up and held it calmly and went for his other gun. Everything felt better with a gun in each hand.
There were two options. Run out into the night full of civilians and hunt the darkness for creatures that were spawned from it or check the house and then get to the hospital. Though the first option appealed to him more he had to admit that the second option was more sound. Too much danger in harming innocent citizens or getting them caught in the crossfire if he took the fight to the streets. Better to make a sweep and get to the hospital so that he could hunt the twins properly and with a formal warrant of execution in order. It was clear that they were responsible for Zoe's disappearance, but whether they were responsible for Geller had yet to be seen.
"Run now. I like a good chase."
He didn't speak to anyone in particular. Ash went about the business of checking the house in a clean and efficient way before calling the station to send a car to come take him to the hospital. Two units arrived and Ash filled the first in on the situation, letting them call in to confirm the warrant of execution he carried, and then leaving them to further search the premises while he went out to the second units car. Soon enough he would be arriving back at the hospital, the worse for wear himself.
-Elemental thunder gathered in his palm and he tapered down the level of his power to knock the wolf off of his brother without really trying to damage him. Yes, the twins were heavily injured and yes it would take time to heal, but Zoe was safe and that had been the plan from the beginning for Crius. Granted his method of saving her would have been different, but that didn't matter. Power was released, the thundershock slamming against the released power of the wolfs beast and it sent him flying across the floor. Crius didn't waste time, he moved so fast that a humans eyes would have no hope of following it.-
-A hand was pressed to his brothers wound, holding in those delicate pieces that were trying to surge out through the gaping wound. His other arm slid around Crixus's back and then he launched them towards the door with every ounce of strength in his legs, redoubling his effort with a blast of mystic wind that pushed them out and into the air so that they could disappear into the night. Ash's blade struck Crius in the thigh and he felt the excrutiating burn of silver, ignoring it to make their get away.-
-When they came down at last they were nearly in the Ninth Ward District and Crius desperately searched for a place where they could go to ground, guarded from the approaching dawn. Crius called the shadows around them and used his power to shield against the humans in the area. There was a cellar, a disgusting place, but this close to Dawn it would have to suffice. Tucking themselves away Crius spent his last hours of consciousness digging silver shot and the knife out of their wounds.-
-Still, when they woke at sunset they would be ravenous and weak. Crius felt bad for any members of the household who chose to come down to the cellar. They would not be happy with what they found.-
