As Nathaniel had invited Cullen and Owen fishing on Lake Ponchartrain sometime this week, and Nate had a new roommate, Zachary Sullivan, he decided to invite the human along as well. Using the information given him on his application, Nate took the cell phone number and texted him while directing the caterer and party supplies specialist around the shop, in preparation for tonight's grand opening.
Nathaniel keyed in the following text:
"Zack its me Nate. Do u want 2 go fishing this weekend? Cullen. Owen and I r going to the lake this weekend. Give me a shout if u want 2 go!
Nathaniel would wait until his roommate got the text message and sent his response before letting Cullen and Owen know they had one more to add to their motley crew of fishermen.
Zack already had his phone in hand, sending texts to a friend back in Pittsburgh. His flip phone vibrated in the middle of sending one, causing him to almost drop it. "...Nate? How the hell did he..." Zack mused to himself, reading the test. A smirk spread across his face as he typed his response:
"been forever since ive been fishing. count me in!!!1!"
The silver balloon popped right on schedule, jarring Nathaniel from his dreamy state, and when he looked down at his Motorola Cliq. It had chimed, letting him know he had a text message.
He touched the screen with a finger and the text message popped up. It was short and sweet. He quickly texted back, as the foreman had to get up on a ladder to insert a new balloon in the place of the one that burst.
"OK. See U at the lake."
The response was brief because he was yelling at the foreman to place the balloon a little bit more to the left. Then Nathaniel moved away from the counter, pocketing the phone as he headed to the back office, probably to decide what to wear this evening.
