Today is the day that will be an official life-changing experience for Dee. Never having a mother in her teen years to teach her about dresses, makeup, and being a woman was tough for Dee growing up. She was drafted into the military as a supernatural assassin at the age of 17. She was surrounded by men and weapons 24/7, which severely affected her lifestyle and appearance. What she has come to notice, over the years, is that she never ever been on a date with a man, nor ever had a romantic relationship with one. She thought it was due to her appearance; always dressing like she just stepped out of boot camp. Black military boots and camoflage designs were an everyday necessity in her wardrobe, and she didn't wear anything but that. Los Angeles and London were no biggies for her because she never met someone that sparked her interest. Now living in New Orleans, there were so many possibilities, and she met someone that really sparked her nerves in that 'man, he's so hot' kind of way.
A few days ago having lunch with Venus, Dee decided that Venus would be her mentor in the aspect of evolving into a woman. Venus was perfect because she was the most beautiful woman Dee has ever seen in her life. Call it a school girl crush, but the moment Dee's eyes landed on Venus, she wanted to be like her, and perhaps she liked her, too. Venus had it all; the beauty of a Greek goddess men would go to war for, the intelligence of a master's degree of genius, the sweet caring heart of a loving mother to her daughter, and a soul of an angel. Not to mention, Venus probably was asked out to dates all the time, and had men falling for her left and right. Dee knew it in her heart that she wanted that. She was envious of Venus, jealous, but also looked up to her and admired her. She even found more joy in Venus when the woman said yes to help her.
They planned to meet up at Lakeside Mall in Metairie. Dee researched that Lakeside Mall is the best place to go shopping because they had all the stores that Venus would want to go: MAC Cosmetics, Sephora, Express, JC Penny's, Dillard's, Old Navy, Bebe, Victoria's Secret, Buckle, Steve Madden, and many more. The testosterone level in her body was screaming 'No! No this is not you!' but the woman inside, beneath the heavy machinery, was screaming louder 'YES! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YES!' And that was the instinct she will listen to today, and for many more days to come.
The taxi rolled up to the side, allowing Dee to stand by the food court entrance. The delicious smell of Asian-influenced gourmet stung her nostrils as soon as she stepped out of the cab, and immediately followed that smell to PF Changs. Who knows, shopping might build them an appetite, and they would lunch their later. For now, she focused on the most important adventure of the day: getting a complete beauty makeover, inside and out. She would not only look the part, but feel the part of being a true woman. She dressed in her normal apparel because she figured her new wardrobe will be bought later that she can wear. Black military combat boots, black jeans tucked inside the boots, a black tank-top, and a camoflage bandana that held her hair up in a ponytail. She hoped that Venus brought a camera so they could take before and after pictures. She stood outside the clear, double doors of the food court entrance, leaning up against the brick wall, watching for Venus to approach.
Never in her wildest dreams would she think of herself as a role-model to someone else. Each day passing Venus smile became wider knowing that once arriving at the mall. That step process towards Dee-Dee’s dreams coming true were all dependant on the right choices that Venus could persuade the woman it was the right choice.During the week, after the lunch with Dee, she looked at magazines to figure out the right color tones for her friend. She wanted something not to be so sexually loud –least not at first. Then there was getting that really unique hair Dee had and brings it into a style that was easy for her to manage.Hell with it. Venus suddenly stop trying to memorizes these goals an wrote it down as a check off list.
Day for the mall arrived and just incase she might have blonde moment she had that cell phone alert her. Just to make sure what else was planned for the week she checked her phone calendar. Looking over what check list she already accomplished this week:
Spoke to Vincent, and he agreed to help build one of his studio rooms into her own dedicated radio station.
Set up a meeting with Ricky Mahoney to help get her other ‘finances’ out of London.
Now that she had her memory back locating her real bank account was easy. The waiting for the funds was going to be the grueling part, because she really wanted transportation. With Geller already using his caddy the taxi rides to places was eating out her tiny funds when she use to work for the Art Gallery in New York.
What to wear to the mall –that was a very good question?Clothing that would be movably comfortable over a long period of time, shoes that wouldn’t cause blisters or sore feet. Pulling out a pair of jean shorts, a good sizable baby doll strapless blouse and sandals, accessorized with ankle bracelet, an hair up in a styles way off her neckline.Yes, she did grab the camera and stuffed it into a carry bag with other essentials.
Just for precautions a stick it was left in the designated area to let the family know here whereabouts. Taxi drive was made her impatient. They always seem to take to long to get there. Arrival time was two minutes late but she didn’t think Dee-Dee would mind at all. Venus swiftly approached her friend and gave her that encouraging hug.
“Mmmm today is the big day. First let’s take a picture of you before.” Stepping away from Dee, giving plenty of space she took a picture. Dee’s pose was great and the snap shot was done.
“I thought really hard how were going to approach this” Venus began wrapping her right arm around her new found friend’s waist. Leaning into her and talking about the check list. This will help prepare Dee for what is coming. “First were going to a hair stylist, and make-up specialist. You always want to start with your hair and make up.This only gives you confidence but it can also help define what looks good with one you wear. Look at it like seeing art. When you see art a artist uses shape’s to define his image.Hair style is like a shape and make up too. Once these are found in your revealing beauty we can see what shape in clothing, an color mesh well.”Pausing a moment to let Dee drink in all the information for her.
Venus was very much an artist.Years of training herself the most precious of art gave her the capability to steal it for the elite mafia men back in her hay-day. Now she was going to use that knowledge to bring out a new blossoming beauty in Dee. Hopefully it will also capture the man she wants to have him interested in her.
She gave Venus a hug and a kiss on the cheek, quickly taking a before picture, and led her inside the crowded mall. Lakeside Mall was one of the most popular malls in Louisiana, so even on a weekday, it's always crowded. They weaved through the crowd, through the food court tables, and stood in the middle, when Venus turned towards her and started to talk about makeup and hair being the first to change.
Dee nodded, listening intently to what the woman was advising. She took out a pd of paper and a pen and began to scribble down everything that Venus was saying. Makeup and hair should always be the first so that the outfits can match accordingly. Got it. Makeup colors should bring out her complexion and her eyes, so dark colors would always work. Check. Dee was so excited, she could not wait to show Geller her new make-over once Venus and her were done.
When they reached a makeup store, Sephora, Dee sat in one of the stools that was next to a lighted vanity mirror. On the vanity were all kinds of makeup tools; q-tips, tissues, makeup remover, and all sorts of different sizes of makeup brushes. Usually the associates would help with makeup, but Venus, the beautiful brave and intelligent woman, told them to step aside and let her work her magic. She would watch Venus parade all over the store, grabbing different kinds of palettes and things that Dee has never seen before in her life. And all the while, Venus was naming each item, the color, its use, and its purpose. Dee would draw a picture of each one, write down the color, and bullet information beneath the title.
"Venus, how do you know so much about this stuff?" She asked the woman curiously. "I mean, there's so much stuff here for makeup that I didn't even know was used to look pretty."
Variety of make-up products was set down upon the preparation counter were Dee sat across from. Venus picked one up and leaned in closer into the chair were Dee sat. There she placed the eye shadow case near her friends eyes debating the various hues she may like. It was evident there was some sort inner thoughts that Dee was having about her. Though she didn't see it this point in their time together. Since she was so busy putting together the products for Dee. Question made the passionate blonde blush.
"I was once like you Dee. I had no comprehension of this stuff. I found it rather repulsive since my half-sister used it to garb it a lot for perversions. ..." Finding the right shades she set them aside in a pile they would buy and others she ushered into another to be returned to their shelves. " ..but...." she lowered her eyes distraught over the memories. "..when my sister got us in trouble with the mafia. We had to do some heinous things to pay back the dues. Things I'm to ashamed to say. Over all, if I didn't present myself as a woman of interest. I would have been dead --which meant learn fast. So, I studied magazines pasting things like puzzles to a piece of paper. Hanging it on my wall trying to configure the right choices. So far it's done me well since my mother never taught me. ..." Venus kissed the side of her friends cheek.
"I'll be right back I'm going to buy these for you. While the hair-stylist works magic with your hair" Turning a bit she was gathering the products and speaking to the hair-stylist. Requesting to make Dee's hair straighten to show a natural beauty. Maybe add minor highlights to bring out her features. An just trim certain area's. Venus didn't think there had to be anything drastic done. When it was all done Venus came back with two bags filled with lipsticks, eye shadows and blush. Eyes admired the new hair style giving it a full-seal of approval. " Now that looks gorgeous Dee. I didn't want her to do anything that would confuse you for styling. Just small changes can go along way" This was spoken while leaving the salon.
All through out the day the were buying simple sun dresses, sandals, new undergarments, perfumes, shampoo's. By the time they were done Venus could feel her feminine bicep almost begging to stop carrying so many bags. " Alright, we have day wear and evening wear." glancing over the bags for a simple inspection. " Yes, you may have to get use to some of it all but I think you'll do great. This guy will really be blown away by your transformation. Don't hesitate to call me if you feel that your not feeling right about what you chosen. Just take a cell phone picture and send it my way. I'll definitely respond."
It had been a very long day when she bid her friend farewell. Hopefully their conversation would certainly stick with Dee. Trying to redesign one-self takes a lot of emotional strain. Almost makes you feel conflicted but Venus has done all that she could to just let Dee know that it will eventually fade that anxiety an with the new style she'll be walking the world in a new confident lime-light. Others will see it too and draw to her like instantly. "Love you Dee. Take care..." Venus waved her friend good-night. How proud she was too.
She nodded, listening to Venus's background with the mafia, and how she came to learn about makeup. Not really the picture-perfect way either. Venus didn't have to say what she did for the Mafia, Dee could see it in her eyes that it was painful and heinous to even mention. Perhaps she whored herself just to stay alive, or things along that nature. Dee knew nothing about the Mafia, but she wasn't just born yesterday, either. She closed her eyes, opened them, puckered her lips, and puffed her cheeks when Venus was applying the makeup, writing down everything that she did, and everything that she said about each product and tool. Dee felt very, very lucky to have Venus teach her about makeup, very lucky.
When Venus told her to look in the mirror, Dee's jaw dropped almost to the floor. That...was her?!?! She couldn't believe what she saw. Those deep, chocolate hues shone against her smooth, creamy complexion. They've always shone, but not so bright like this. They were outlined in black eyeliner and mascara, making them pop like fireworks in a dark, summer sky. She always had full lips, but the color and gloss made them even more luscious and definitely kissable. She didn't even recognize the woman in the mirror, she had to lean over and really, really look at herself. Then, the widest smile creased from cheek to cheek. She felt confidence. Beautiful confidence.
After she finally got a hold of herself, the stylist came in and started working on her hair. Venus said there wasn't much needed to be done, except trim here and there, getting rid of split ends, and volumize it. Each product they put into her hair, Dee also wrote that down, doodling the bottle, the name, and it's purpose. After they were done teasing and fluffing, she looked into the mirror again, running her slender digits through those smooth, silky obsidian locks, fluffing. Was her dream coming true? Did this woman make her dreams come true? Yes, yes she did. Dee couldn't help but feel prettier and prettier the more work they did on her.
When they left the salon, they headed into stores like Victoria's Secret for undergarments, Express, Bebe and Guess for clothing, and Steve Maddison for shoes. Victoria's Secret was quite the experience; never in her life did she ever wear a thong, or push-up bras, or lingerie. She tried on everything, and when she tried on thongs, she felt the urge to keep pulling the strap down from her ass crack. Venus said the longer you wear them, you won't really feel it anymore. Yeah, ok. Something that's up her ass constantly and she won't feel it? Impossible! They went into the other stores, trying on dresses and jeans and shirts and skirts that looked absolutely stunning on her. And Venus was buying everything! Seriously, a whoooole new wardrobe! And Dee was loving every minute of it. The best part of the day was the shoe store. Dee kept going straight to the boots, but Venus kept pulling her away, leading her over to the heels and sandals, until Dee finally gave up. When she tried on heels, she would take a step and then trip. Take another step, then trip. Take another step, then trip. For being a werewolf, thinking that balance would come naturally, was complete and total bullshit. Dee was already a clumsy bitch to begin with, falling and tripping over air sometimes, and these heels, made it worse. Venus was crying because she was laughing so hard as Dee was tripping and falling all over the place until finally Venus showed her how to do it the right way. Stand tall, straight, put one foot in front of the other like you're walking in a straight line. She tried, got it a few times, but still kept buckling every now and then. Venus gave in and also bought a pair of boots for Dee for the winter, but she insisted that it had to have a heel. And Dee gave in. But at least she got new boots!
The shopping day was over, and Dee was hauling at least 20 bags. It looked like too many bags for just one woman to carry, but being a wolf and all, they felt like she was carrying air. When Venus leaned in for a kiss and hug goodbye, Dee returned, giving her a tight and loving squeeze, and a lingering kiss on her cheek. "Thank you so much Venus, for everything. You have no idea how much I appreciate this with all of my heart. I know we haven't known each other for that long, but I feel like I can trust you, and consider you a great friend to me. If Hair Gel trusts you, then I trust you. And he never steers me wrong. I'll see you later! And I'll definitely call you and let you know how everything went." She waved goodbye to Venus, and hopped in a taxi herself, heading straight to the hotel to show Geller.
