She hadn't heard from her girl in several days so she knew she was spending more time than was healthy cooped up in her workshop. As the sun set across the city Jenna was found banging on the door.
"Avery! It's time for you to get out of there and blow the dust off, love. We have shopping to do.." She knew if she didn't lend a helping hand, the little blue tigress would miss all the good stuff. The Ball was up and coming fast, and she wanted Avery there. Whatever was to happen, whoever was bringing all of them together, it was bound to be interesting.
While she waited, she studied a fingernail, breathing in smelling Avery inside, a slow smile forming. Something about the little blue that caught Jenna's heart every time. It wasn't something she could fully explain, and while she'd tried it didn't come close to the fullness.
She started knocking again. "Come on, babygirl, time to come and join the land of the living..."
Avery had indeed been cooped up in her workshop, and the tiny rooms above for almost the last week. And as always, Jenna's thought was right. Avery hadn't been eating. Munching here and there. Sleeping only when she absolutely couldn't keep her eye's open, and running mostly on Mt Dew, and Red Bull.
The large worktable in the middle of her workshop, behind the display area, held a peice in progress. She'd gotten an order for a 4 by 6 foot peice for someone's great room that over looked the bayou. Giving a glass rendition of the bayou itself. It was about half done. The peices layed out on a large peice of graph paper, and fitted in each spot, tiny peices of tape numbering each one, so it coinsided with the number it lay ontop of.
Above the sound of the music, she heard Jenna knocking and calling out to her, and without looking up she called out, "Door's open, Momma!!" Her attention was on the peice she'd just cut, and was now grinding to make sure it fit propperly. Settling it in place, she eyed the fit, and Cut the next. Glancing up as she piced up the peice of green colored glass, tapping the end of her cutter against the new score mark.
"What are we shopping for anyway?"

She walked in, the piece Avery working on capturing her attention immediately. Clear eyes trailed up the entirety of it. "Amazing...." she gave a nod, sweeping blonde hair behind one ear.
It was then she studied Avery. She had that focused, intense look that she recognized. She couldn't help but laugh, but wrapped Avery up in slender arms, brushing her cheek over the fragrant blue hair in greeting.
"The Ball, baby. We need to get you a gown, some sexy little mask, a few good meals and hours of sleep. This is something you do not want to miss, Avery. I don't know if what is going to happen is good or bad, but I know we should be there to see it."
She took another look at the piece, then took a breath.
"Ok, come on. Time to feed you first, then shop, then sleep. I have a big fluffy bed all ready to cradle you into dreams for a while."
She'd just put the next peice in place when Jenna wrapped arms around her. Rubbing a hand over her eyes, she nuzzled into the hug, and blinked curiously up at Jenna as she was let go. flipping off the grinder, she put the lid back on the little baby food jar that sat next to the glass she was cutting. A little peice of paper towel soaked in oil inside of it. Setting the cutter next to it, she moved to wash her hands, getting off the tiny peices of glass, and checking to make sure she didn't have any new cuts.
Once hands were dried, she turned to look back at Jenna, and pulled her headband off, letting all those blue braids and twists fall around her face now that it wasn't held back with the band. "There's a ball? Guessing masquerade if i need a mask..." She made a face and grabbed her bottle of mt dew, takeing a drink. "I gotta bed here....kinda..." Ok she had a futon that wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing in the world. The tiny rooms above the shop wern't as big as she liked, but since she owned the building, she figured she could renovate later. Make it into a nice little appartment for herself
"Hell...don't think I've been to one of those since Vi.....since back when I was in Spain....." She gave a bit of a forced smile. obviously the topic of Vito was still a sore one.
Bloody hell, how long had it been since she even heard Vito's name. A slight frown in thought as she ushered Avery out to get her a decent meal before the shopping ensued her mind went over the past. The smell of Avery's work, remembering her working on it so diligently. Her little tigress, so in love with Vito. She could still see her climbing his frame like a monkey when he walked in. She hadn't asked what happened; Jenna knew all too well how sensitive some subjects could become. Maybe the wound was fresh, maybe the scar tender.
She slipped her arm around Avery as they walked out, "Then this is a good time to give it a go again, Avery. For both of us...as for the bed, wouldn't hurt to be pampered for a change, you know." She smiled, giving a wink as she did, then hit the locks on the car. "So I'm thinking something in black would be stunning on you, love."
When they were settled, she started the car, "Okay, what sounds good to eat? Your call, my treat." She meant to ensure that Avery got some major down time.
It had been close to two years since Vito had left her in LA, and gone off to do god knows what. The black tiger makeing sure she would be taken care of, before he left, and leaving her with more money then she'd need in a life time. Why then was she living in a shithole appartment, above her shop? Because she was afraid the money might run out, honestly.
She grabbed her hoodie from the chair as they headed out. Dark purple, with Eeyore on the front. Letting herself be hearded to the car, she slipped in, and buckled the belt. Was Vito a sore topic? Only because she didn't know what happend. Because she'd never heard another word from him. He'd left to do a job, and...nothing. What was she to think? Did he just leave...tired of watching over the little blue? Or had something worse happend?
She shook it off. She wasn't going to dwell on what she couldn't find out or fix. instead it would just gnaw at the back of her mind. Settling into the seat of Jenna's car, she pondered the idea of a black dress. "I have an idea actually...I saw a dress in the window of this shop downtown the other day....was pretty cool looking actually..." she settled in for the drive and thought about what she wanted to eat. "Um...how about...some place i can get a HUGE chef salad? Like...huuuuuuuuuuuuge!!" she held her arms in a circle as if saying she wanted it that big. "And Chicken strips.....and fries.....and cheese curds......and a strawberry milkshake." She nodded and then blinked, thinking about what she'd just said. "Diner around the corner....biggest salads i've found in this city."
Grinning, she thought about the idea that she needed to be pampered. "...wouldn't know. I don't think i've ever been pampered...."
Jenna was laughing as she headed off toward the diner where this massive salad was thought to be had. "That's one big salad, baby girl, but you got it. Strawberry milkshake, chicken strips, fries and all!" She was inwardly thrilled that Avery had saw a dress she liked. If that was what she liked, then that's what she would have.
At the mention of not knowing what it was to be pampered, Jenna's brows perked. "Oh, then have I got a day planned for you!" She didn't say anything else, glad that Avery was in a state of fatigue so Jenna could dote. She'd missed this, doting, fawning and caring for others. It fulfilled a part of the tigress that nothing else could. She was energized by it. Easing the car into a parking spot, she was reveling in the hopes of the day.
Thirty minutes later, Jenna was tucking into a BLT, watching Avery with her food. ALL her food. It was a kick. Nothing much was said while they ate, tigers liked their meals. Finally, Jenna took a long drink of her ice water and sat back. "Perfect lunch, now for the dress!"
Avery was happy as could be. She dug into her salad, and didn't realize how hungry she was untill she had finished the salad, and was starting in on her fries and chicken strips. The diner had the best ranch she'd ever tasted for both her salad and her strips and fries. Watching Jenna curiously she tilted her head to the side watching her friend with a smile.
"Your having too much fun, you know that right?" grinning, she bumped her with her foot." I swear you've been takein care of me for awhile now..." She popped a fry in her mouth. chewing happily and started to discribe the dress she'd seen to Jenna inbetween bites. She really had been hungry.
"I know I am.." Jenna's nose wrinkled with the grin, but she went quiet, listening to the sound of Avery's voice, remembering when it sounded younger, more frightened. It pleased her that it was now strong, confident.
The lunch was passed in conversation, then Jenna swept Avery away. It was with a little struggle that Jenna finally got Avery to have a massage, a mani/pedi, then they were off to procure the dress. Accoutrements were obtained, everything tried on, spun around and critiqued, before the final purchase was made.
Driving Avery to the big house she grinned as she watched Avery nearly falling asleep in the seat. She ushered the little tigress into the house, drew her a hot, fragrant, bubble bath, then turned down one of the big beds. The comforters soft and fluffy, the sheets clean and crisp and the pillows the kind you surrounded yourself with.
Jenna made phone calls and finalized a few things for her own life while Avery slept. By the time the sun was setting, Jenna was in the kitchen making a shrimp stir fry so when the blue baby girl awakened, she could eat another meal, maybe sleep a few more hours. Mentally reboot, physically recharge, and be ready for a weekend of fun.
