Marcus and Milo's place - currently home to the refugees

They'd been here for days, Jessica and the three wolves. The high point of the trip had been getting to know Ash more, oddly enough. It was amazing to realize the ties she had with him that she had tried to ignore. She'd accepted him because he was Milo's friend, hated him because of his tie to Marcus and never allowed herself to actually get to know him. What was that saying? Better late then never? She'd admit to herself the lost time was all her own fault but now was not the time to focus on regrets.

Being here, being back in New Orleans had her on edge, had her pacing across the living room floor, had the inner beast prowling, the primal energy fluctuating around her. The plan was for all of them to start investigating, to see what these mysterious invitations were all about. The only way for her to investigate was for her to leave the house, to go into the city.

That was the problem.

Why was it that no matter how many good memories you have of a place the few bad memories taint it? OK, so the memories weren't just 'bad' they were horrible. But still.

"Focus on the good," she mumrured to herself. Meeting Marcus and Milo. The job she had here. Learning to be comfortable with herself. The more she focused on the things that had originally brought her to New Orleans, the positive, the more she calmed. "Stupid," she murmured the word to herself. Yes, she was letting panic take over, she should know better.

Time to plan now. Where to look first? It was time to head into town, to see what she could find out.
