Message for Rissa
Permalink

He'd disappeared from NY, he hadn't meant to but he'd had his reasons. Like arson investigators. Funny how they just ruined his fun sometimes. Seven burn phones and a lot of states later, he was here in New Orleans. Swamp country tended to make him itchy but then again, no one would be looking for him here. Hopefully.

There was one phone number that traveled from phone to phone with him, one contact number he kept. Yeah, he was a sap.

He cleared his throat, pressing the speed dial and listening to the ring, he hadn't expected her to answer, eyes closing at the sound of her 'leave a message' greeting.

"Um, Hey Riss, its JT, you know... Flash. I had to leave NY but... I just wanted to say. I don't know what I wanted to say. You can call me back, I'll have this phone for, well, a while." The prompt to replay his own message was tempting but he already knew he sounded like an ass and he didn't want to risk making things worse. Now just to wait.

The petite pixie hadn't answered the phone, mostly because she didn't use that one anymore. She still had it, trying to let the contract she had run out and for those few people from New York that only had that number. It sat upstairs on her beside table, used at the moment more like a paperweight then anything else. It was surprising it had a charge to on the battery since she charged it maybe once a week. Taking a break from overseeing things at the hookah, she decided to run upstairs for a little smoke break of her own.

Gloved fingers grabbed her stash box and pulled out a jay before she flopped down onto the bed and lit it with a comforted sigh. A few drags were taken as she laid there staring at the ceiling before the almost useless cell phone beeped at her. A slender raven brow went up when she heard the noise, her blue-green eyes moving in that direction. Curiosity piqued, she reached out and grabbed the phone. The number was not one that she recognized, and that caused a frown to tug at her lips. "Who the fuck?" She whispered softly, but seeing as there was a message left, she brought the phone to ear and pressed the button to listen to the voicemail, fully prepared to just throw the thing into the garbage can if it was some stupid tele-marketer.

The recorded voice that spoke into her ear made her pause, head tilting to the side. JT.... JT... Did she know a JT? The voice was familiar but the name stumped her for a second before he mentioned Flash, that rang a bell. The message was halted and brief, which had her listening to it twice to make sure she wasn't imagining things again. Hey, she could have been... chalk it up to the drugs. His words were... well, just flat out strange, which had another frown tugging at her lips. Seemed this week was going to be filled with weird contacts from the past. First that all too brief meeting with Jessie, and now the voicemail from Flash.

Grabbing the cell that she actually used nowadays from her pocket, she dialed the number that he had called her from and waited. Lori wasn't really expecting him to answer, considering he didn't know the number she was calling from. When she heard the beep signaling for her to leave her own message she sighed into the phone. It took a moment for her to actually talk. "Oh Shit!.... Flash.... Hey.... It's Lorissa.... I got your message, sorry, but I don't really use that phone anymore... Well.... Cause I don't stay in New York anymore.... Funny huh....? I'm actually back home... or well the closest thing I've had to a home other than Hawaii...." Yeah, she was rambling, call it effects of her smoke. "Anyway, it was.... well... good to hear from you... I thought you'd dropped off the face of the planet...." Like so many other people that had just disappeared from her life. Although, he had said once, that he wouldn't do it to her, after months of not hearing from him, she'd just pushed it from her mind. "But, yeah... this is my number now, if you ever wanna just, chat or... whatever. Okay... well... call me back sometime...." She hung up the phone after that, feeling a little stupid, but then gave a shrug and finished smoking her jay deciding not to worry.

Phone tag and he was IT.

The number on the phone was one it didn't recognize, no surprise there, but that didn't mean he was going to answer, that's what voice mail was for after all. Of course, once he'd listened to the message he was kicking himself for not picking up.

The number she'd called from was reprogrammed into his phone, jotting it down on the little card he kept in his wallet just in case he had to burn the phone. Then it was called, listening to the ringing tones before getting the prompts that stated for him to leave a message.

"Hey Rissa, this is me, calling you back. Because you said I should. Anyways. I didn't realize you'd left New York. Where are you at now? I'm.." he hesistated, "I'm in New Orleans." There, he did it. "Look its a long story why, too long for voice mail but... call me if you can. If you want."

He disconnected the line, thunking the phone softly against his forehead. "Idiot." The word muttered to himself before sliding the phone away. He had a building to burn.

Work at the Hookah was usually busy, which is why when her phone rang she let it go to voicemail, waiting until she got a small breather before checking out who had called. Pulling the phone out of her pocket, she pressed the button once again to access her voice-mail and listened to the message left. Blue-green eyes widened when Flash said that he was in New Orleans. "Wow... what a small fucking world." Was everything chance, or just cosmic coincidence? A smile on her lips she hung up on her voice mail and pressed the number to call him back.

She waited, letting the phone ring, wondering if he'd pick up this time. Sadly, the fates had deemed that the little gothic pixie would be sent to voice mail once more. "Hey Flash! It's Lori. Seems like we keep playing phone tag. Don't know what you're up to, but I have to say, it's funny. Cause I moved here to New Orleans about six months ago. Small world, huh? Are you stalking me?" She teased into the phone, "Anyway, I'm working at this place called the Midnight Hookah. It's in the French Quarter, don't know if you've heard of it but, you should stop by sometime, seeing as your in town. Well, I gotta get back to work, but maybe I'll see ya later." With that she ended the call and dropped the phone back into her pocket, bouncing her head to the sounds of Bob Marley as she went about her day.
