There was a reason that James decided to buy into a book store when he moved out to the great big Yonder of America. and that was because books, where one thing that really didn't change through the ages, since the times before the white council and the original Merlin (yeah, he was around, founded the council and everything, great guy we're all told) books where on paper, and printed on technology that while streamlined had been pretty much the same since Gutenberg invented it. Wizards liked books, books where easy, you could learn about anything you wanted to with books... except maybe people skills; But, most Wizards don't really do with people skills. instead choosing to sit in their towers and read books until father time comes and steals them away.
In that way James was a progressive, he may have spent a great deal of his time reading. but a life of dodging random chaos, literally will certainly help one to appreciate the finer things in life. which is why James did most of his reading here during the day, while there where not many customers to speak, he still had a couple and was able to justify purchasing books on the craft on his taxes, it was a win win... It certainly was no extravigant wizards tower, but it had central air, so it was infinitely better in that regard. It was on the top of his building, and even the immense magical forces around him couldnt get up there to hex that wonderful machine down. Not that he wanted to, that was part of the reason that he chose this place.
As a wizard, it was hard for James to adapt to the changing times, the raw forces of creation that he was just able to reach out and grab up, where sort of a double edged blade, yeah he was strong and could do some cool things with magic. but that also meant that anything electronic would forever be beyond his grasp. something about magic just fries them out. part of the reason his home ran on oil lamps and heat. but absolutely lacked air conditioning a fact that drove him bat shit crazy after a few days. and why he spent every possible second here at this bookstore.
"I dont care of they're called comic books, or graphic novels that does not make them legitimate literature. Nothing with with that steep a picture to actual words ratio should be called a book." spoke very passionately into a phone. After a moment he made a face and went on. "Young man, just because I do not like them does not mean I haven't read them. I read watchmen while you where still a stain in your britches, and I still believe that it is simply the disjointed ramblings of a man who's only real accomplishment was finding a medium to accept his stories."
Well that certainly got a reaction the phone unceremoniously clicked shut and the Wizard simply gave a shrug. "comic books as literature..." spoken to no one in particular the store was large, and very well stocked, with new and used books alike. as well as having a rare books section overlooking the rest of the store behind a closed gate in a loft area. Truth be told it was more his private library then for sale, while people who thought they where interested in magic browsed the area, they where not willing to pay his price for a real book on the subject.
Blue eyes scanned his empty store and the wizard made a bit of his face, placing his phone back on the receiver and making his way out from behidn the counter. " I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to be a bit nicer to potential customers, ey?" was he talking to someone? probably not, it wasn't uncommon to hear wizards conversing with themselves. with his phone call taken care of James took a step to one of many large overstuffed arm chairs he kept in the store, and picked up the book left open upon the arm rest. a nice plop back and he opened it again, going back to his reading.
