H I S T O R Y :

Solomon’s mother thought she would never have children, she had believed that she was infertile, and according to all medical professionals her husband was incapable of fathering a child. So when she was suddenly blessed with a child at forty-five years of age it came as quite a surprise. No more so than to her husband Andrew. Little Sol was born three months early in a hospital in Sydney, Australia. At just under three pounds and with abnormal heart rhythms the doctors told the Durham’s that he would not live to the end of the month. His mother took his name right from the bible, "Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon [meaning 'peaceful'], for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days" (1 Chronicles 22:9). During that first month she prayed constantly that her miracle child would live to see another day. Meanwhile her husband, fed up with hospital bills and plagued by the conviction that his wife had born the son of another man, left them. It wasn't until years later that he ever showed his face again.

Against all odds Sol survived and a few months later was allowed to leave the hospital with his mother. With bills mounting and no support they had no choice but to move to his grandparents homestead in Perth. There he was free to grow up with plenty of fresh air and room to roam, but even as a child it was easy to see that he was different. Until the age of ten his mother feared that he might be autistic because of the way he did things and seemed to have his own internal world. Sol didn't learn to speak English until he was four. When they took him to the speech therapist in the city they discovered that the language he had been speaking was not baby-talk as suspected but was actually a dialect of Ancient Greek. This and other seemingly miraculous things seemed to be a normal part of his life. In school he excelled, though socially he was behind most children. Quiet and reserved it wasn't until he hit his growth spurt at puberty that he really began to come out of his shell.

At thirteen he took a job working at the local library, three days a week after school let out. When no one was watching he would sneak up to the stacks with an apple or half his sandwich from lunch and pour over the books there. During those years he learned a wealth of things that they didn't teach in school. Some worth knowing and some questionable. His life was much like any other boys except that people remarked that being around him lightened their moods. Sometimes if you were sick then being in Solomon’s company could make you feel a bit better. No one knew why.

During his senior year they took a trip to the mountains to do some rock climbing. An activity which Sol had been fond of for many years. Rugged and grown into a handsome well built man he headed into the hills with the surety of youth, positive that he was immortal as all young people think they are. That was the day that his life changed forever. Something went wrong with the anchors and while he was belaying down one came loose and his friend at the bottom had been drinking and failed to keep him safe. Solomon crashed onto the rocks below where he lay bent and broken for three hours before an ambulance got there. When he was rushed into the hospital they said he had broken nearly every bone in his body, sustained multiple head fractures, and had swelling in his brain. The prognosis was death. For the second time his mother waited, and prayed.

Something more than an accident happened that day. The fall awakened something in him and as he lay in that coma his mind drifted. The next morning when the doctors checked on him they were shocked, sending for the chief resident because they could not believe their findings. His bones were knitting back together, the swelling in his brain had disappeared, and he seemed on a road to miraculous recovery. Within three short days he was out of the hospital and on his way home. From that day on Solomon was never the same. He was plagued by dreams at night. Dreams of himself in other times and places, doing things he could not possibly do. These dreams though were nightmares, they frightened him. He wasn't human in there dreams, he was a monster. And always they showed death, his death at the hands of something evil and sinister. It was then that he truly began to hate anything to do with the supernatural.

Although life was short and precious he couldn't bear to leave his mother so he stayed in Perth and took a job at a local bakery as an assistant, learning everything the man could teach him and surprisingly he took to it immediately. Better a happy baker than a miserable millionaire. His friends went off to college but he never felt the need. All the while he began working for Humans First and learning a whole different set of skills. When his mother was attacked on a mountain trail it came as no surprise to him. The monsters were everywhere. Up until the end he was in the hospital every day. As his mothers health failed he stayed with her more and more. When it came to the end she looked up at him from her bed and smiled. "Solie, you've meant the world to me, but Gods calling me home. I'll miss you." A tear rolled down his cheek as she died and he said his last goodbyes to the woman who he had called mother this lifetime, sure that he would see her again in some turn of the cosmic wheel.

He wanted revenge, wanted answers, wanted peace. And so he traveled the globe on his quest. When he needed money he stayed in a hostel and worked in the kitchen of a cafe for awhile. Sometimes as a dishwasher, sometimes as a cook, and on one bizarre occasion in Thailand he was in charge of pickling cobras. Always interesting what Asian cultures thought would make you virile. From France, to Japan, Tibet, to Argentina, his travels left no stone uncovered. Yet the world was so large and with so many people in it. How could he find those he was searching for. Realizing that if you don't like the answer you should think of a better question he changed course. He would search for someone who could make these visions go away. Someone who could take all of this away.

But it didn't go away. It got worse. He made an ally of Nori and the Humans First officers. Made friends with Lillian Bradshaw, but as things got worse on the island strange things began to happen to him. A run in with Jane Bradshaw had him suspecting that there was something very very wrong with him. Then he met Lylianna and something inside him just broke. Without knowing why he wanted to protect her, almost like he was born to do just that. Within twenty four hours of meeting her he was on a plane to Rome at her side. Whatever was wrong with him, he didn't care as much when he was with her. If he could protect her then he felt safe himself.

In Rome he found a job working security for Mr. Ishmael Goldman of Goldman Enterprises and he kept up with Nori and his Humans First connections.  All this drew him away from Lylianna a little at a time, but he told himself that he did it all to protect her.  To give her a better life and make the world safer for people like her.  Then one day Nori told him of a betrayal by his bonded one, and he went to see if Lyl was truly shacking up with the fanger Valentino Pilate.

When he arrived intent on killing the vampire a strange mix of magic and destiny played its hand and Solomons phoenix was partially awakened, locking him in a deep enchanted sleep until an Isis or Ra could draw him back to the land of light and shadows.  Now he sleeps deep beneath the mansion of a Master Vampire in the city of New Orleans waiting for his rebirth to be complete.
