H I S T O R Y :
(Artemus has been in play for nearly 6 years and with it his history has grown).
Artemus is the youngest ( by half a minute) of a pair of twins. His older brother, Sylus, being a loner type meant Art became the social butterfly.
Mom being a hippy turned hair stylist and dad a factory drone meant pleanty of free time all around. Ran cross-country in high school and did pole vault for a year. Topping out at 5'11 in his senior year, Art is damned near all legs with a ground eating stride when rushed.
He only had to repeat one year of college, his junior, as that was the year he contracted lycanthropy. His wasn't a horror story out of H.P. Lovecraft; nope. Poor sod got a bad batch of vaccine. There wasn't a pard in his hometown, so Art had to learn all the rules the hard way, however he had help. Sylus had contracted lycanthropy two years before and did what he could to help his brother learn what control he'd need to pass as a normal. The wolf taught the leopard how to play this new game of predator and prey. A year after graduating, the two went separate ways as Sylus had pack duties and Art was off to intern at The Blade in Toledo, Ohio. Life got dull until he received a phone call from Sylus asking for help in moving to Detroit where he'd gotten a job offer helping at a security firm in Benton Harbor.
In a confrontation that changed his life, Artemus with the help of his brother, and girlfriend Trea, killed the first Nimir Raj he'd ever met. A man named Cologrio, who was nothing but abusive and neglectful of his Pard. Leaving them to fend for themselves, as though every member were an alpha, he seemed more concerned with his own agenda than caring for his cats. On impulse, Artemus ate Cologrio's heart and a peculiar thing occurred. Some of the former Nimir Raj's dominance seemed to awaken within Artemus. Looking to the remaining members, he names himself Leopard Lionne. This was only the start of his troubles.
Shortly after, Trea revealed herself as a member of the Unseelie, a half-breed in hiding. As their relationship grew, Trea placed several protections over Artemus. Many he is unaware of even now. One year later, Trea died in the birthing of their daughter Amaris. Following this, he took comfort in the arms of one of his Pard, Dakota "Kota" Sanchez, who pretty much adopted Amaris as her own lil' gato.
Just as a feeling of normalcy crept over them all, a rival vampire made a play for the city and pulled Artemus and his pard into their machinations. Left for dead at the hands of a corrupting vampire, his only solace was that he'd eternally marred this 'Lila' across her face. Either by determination, or by sheer dumb luck, he survived because of the intervention of Evan, a Lieutenant of the Master of the City, whose animals were leopards, and his brother's benefactor, a Master vampire named Kat.
In the six months after his recovery from Lila's corruption, Artemus began to experience uncontrollable spikes in his aura/power. Despite doing his best to keep it hidden from the other group leaders, he eventually caught wind they were discussing the odd changes coming over him. His voice held more authority over his leopards and non-alphas and the emergence of being able to heal those under his protection.
Kotawas the first to say what was happening, but that only pissed him off because it was one more thing in a series of events beyond his control. It finally took a reckless bar-brawl with a 6'4 werehyena named Alex and the admonishing words of a were-jaguar leader he respected for it all to sink in. Speculation became belief; he'd risen to be a Nimir Raj, fact or fiction no one said otherwise to him.
In a difficult period, he made a very hard decision. Sending Kotato Hawaii, he chose to follow Amris' trail after Trea’s darker kin came to take her under the hill. Venice, Prague, Madrid, and then into Afghanistanhe went, while sending Dakota e-mails and letters. Until he found a doorway to the Unselie Courtwhere he spent a year at their mercy before...someone...had him released. However, their ministrations have left much of his abilities truncated and returned to the drawing board.
