Knock Knock - Voice mail from Faith to Ash-

Cell phones were an amazing thing. One day the world scoffed at the very idea of them and the next it couldn't function without the little hand held devils. Faith was no different. Undead she maybe but tech savvy she was forever and always. And so as Faith reclined on a rather comfortable couch, she slid her thumb across the screen of her Smartphone and smiled as a swoosh announced her ability to connect with the world.  Scrolling through the contacts listing on a whim she frowned when she saw and old number she thought she lost. Pale blue eyes positively glowed as Faith pressed the "call" button and brought the phone to her ear to hear the phone ring on the other end. Naturally Ash's voice mail picked up. He sounded as surly as always but Faith couldn't help but smile as she pictured him in her head.  Tall, dark. Wearing a pink tutu.  Hey everyone had their imaginations, even vampires. *Beep*

"Three guesses as to who. Your caller ID is probably showing private caller so no fair peeee-king.  Miss me? Call me when you get this. Maybe we can get a bite to eat? Ciao."

Funny how when you began to revisit old ghosts they had a way of turning their sights on you in return.  His recent meetings with Silent, Cypress, and Malcolm made way for all kinds of forgotten things to suddenly begin encroaching on his hard won privacy.  Three years of living off the grid and playing human and now his phone number was returned to its original status, his beast rising again to take it's place in this new city, and now another face from the past pressed forward to take hold of him.

Ash had met Faith in Salem when she had been just a savvy human reporter with ambitions towards a Pulitzer. Even then she had been prone to trouble, after all, his first meeting with her had been when she was nearly killed by a vampire.  He still remembered the damage she did driving his Hummer.  There was still a good dose of wonder too at how her interaction with him had led her to Shane.  That was a fact he couldn't forget.  Memories trickled in of the years of chance encounters with Faith and settled at last on the final time they had seen one another...in the graveyard...with Azrael.

Faith was a vampire now and Ash still wasn't sure how to fit that new information in with his memories of the sharp tongued blonde he had first met on a beach in New England.  He knew plenty of vampires, was the animal to call for one of them, and yet there was something different about knowing Faith.  Perhaps it was because she was the only one he had seen alive first.  It made for an odd soft spot in his acceptance of her.  Dialing back the number she had called from he left his own message.

"A drink would be better I think pet.  After all, you trying to grab a bite to eat from me would end with you as a big pile of dust....and that's hardly suitable evening companionship.  Why don't we meet at The Aerie.  I hear their very friendly to your kin.  The witching hour, (day muns agree on)."

Hanging up the phone he didn't even notice the lack of goodbye.  It was just a habit too long ingrained in him.  Things were filling up fast and he had time to consider that he was going to need to address the issue of help sooner rather than later.  Always someone who liked to maintain order he was already working on putting things into their suitably ordered positions, like moving the human pieces of a puzzle around.

The phone beeped at her and Faith stared back at it as if the thing had grown a hand and flipped her off. Stupid thing, she didn't even hear it go off. Although when she heard the voice mail the vampire forgave the bit of tech and quickly called back. Nothing got her cold blood going like a nice game of phone tag. And TAG, Ash was IT.

" But darling, a bite from me might change your mind. I'm told it can be quite...Stimulating? As far as meeting you, I can't think of a good reason not to. At the risk of sounding sentimental I'd rather like that. The witching hour it is. I'll txt you with the Da...Night I am available. You know me. Busy, busy, busy. Tah! "
