Tommy had made Milo park the bike down the street aways so that the sound of the engine wouldn't disturn anyone. Then the two men had walked the rest of the distance towards Natalie's house. It was dark outside with only a flickering, and in need of repair, streetlamp offering brief light in the darkness. All the windows of all the tiny houses were dark, their occupents safely tucked into their beds for the night. Rightly so since it was the middle of the night and not everyone kept the odd hours that the rats did. In the darkness Milo was snickering and Tommy cast an unappreciative glance in his King's direction.
"One more Harry Potter joke man, one more and I swear I'll...." Okay, so Tommy had absolutely no idea what he would do. It wasn't like he actually could do anything to Milo. Jostling the much taller man and trying to get him to stay out of the light he pointed across the street at Natalie's house. "That's where they live."
His hand was extended, one finger pointing at the house that he'd been in the night before eating chinese food and giving a guitar lesson. After he saw Milo's attention focus, the mans lime green eyes taking in the small home, he let his hand fall back to his side. Teeth bit surreptitiously at the cushion of his bottom lip and he was glad Milo wasn't the sort of man who asked too many questions.
When Tommy had gone to the King with his request he'd thought for sure Milo would just turn him down flat or tell him it was none of the Rodere's business. Yet since the arrival of Knox and the knowledge of Dade's death Milo seemed to be going through some interesting changes of his own. At least, that's what Tommy thought he was seeing. With Milo though, who knew, could just be gas. In any event the King had not shot him down or belittled the request, instead he had considered it, and asked Tommy to take him to the house where Natalie and Kevin lived.
"Can you get what you need without....you know....waking them up or scaring them or something?"
Cause let's face it, seeing Milo peeping outside your window would be damn frightening for anyone in the middle of the night. Tommy didn't want to scare anybody, in fact he was hoping they could get what they needed and go without anyone ever knowing they'd been there. Luckily among shifters rats were the best at such covert operations, even a giant man like Milo could somehow manage to slink and disappear when necessary.
-Milo liked Harry Potter thank you very much. It wasn't his fault that Tommy had them sneaking around a neighborhood at night like Dumbledore and McGonagal outside the Dursleys house at #4 Privet Drive. Really was too bad they didn't have one of those deluminators though. How exactly had Milo Jones been awakened to the wonder and glory of J.K Rowling? Simple. Marina. She'd actually read to him in bed some nights when they were living in Brooklyn, to all of them, and Milo had perhaps liked the stories more than anyone.-
-Lime green eyes looked across the street at the house that Tommy indicated. From inside he could just vaguely sense the two humans who lived there. Letting his shoulders relax, his body blending with the shadows around them Milo once again considered Tommy's proposition. It wasn't something the Rodere had ever done. He wasn't sure it was really something that anyone's Rodere had ever done. Normally, considering the request was not going to lead to any good hyucks Milo would have flat out said no, but he'd been having some personal inner demons to fight lately and that made him somewhat more open to change.-
"Course I can. You think I got where I am today by being so obvious all the time?"
-Thin lips sneered as his bright green eyes reflected light back in the darkness as he looked across at Tommy. Their voices were pitched so low that no one would hear them in passing, not that anyone was out passing at this time of night. Flicking a finger near Tommys face the tip of it stopped just shy of whacking the boy in the nose, then Milo was off without a sound into the darkness to get what they had come for.-
-It wasn't difficult. A little power, stealthiness, and a hell of a good set of olfcactory receptors. Once he had what they needed he would move back from the shadows towards Tommy and rejoin the other man with a nod of his head towards where they'd left the bike.-
"Come on McGonagal. Let's roll." -And when Tommy asked why he had to be McGonagal Milo said.+ "You know me man, I always hang out with hot chicks who can turn into cats."
