It was a beautiful night out as the clouds seem to roll through the sky to cover up the half moon that shone in the sky. Alyanna would be reading a book while she had a pair of ear phone on so in gross into the book she wouldn't notice anyone around. But also she was sitting on top of a mausoleum somewhere most people wouldn't find someone sitting. But she like being high since it gave her a good point of spotting something weird.
Alyanna had been up there for a couple hours after the sun and set. Since she couldn't really do anything else. Since the only friend was a Vampire which she lived with and he had whatever he was doing. So she didn't want to bother him .And also she was off work tonight so here she was.
Titus honestly had to stand and stare at the girl on the mausoleum for a few seconds. he knew New Orleans had a strange love for the dead. This was not the first time he'd seen a girl in a graveyard after the place had closed but he still was shocked by it. Dressed in his standard jeans and black shirt, he carried his bag of goodies and a pet carrier with a live chicken in it. He felt ritualistic tonight so he pulled out all the stops and bought a chicken instead of a nutria.
With a bit of a chuckle he turned and began to walk towards his appointment with a corpse. A little whistle came from him in the form of "Ain't No Grave" as he moved through the mausoleums, pretending he was a thirty foot giant and the mausoleums were houses. Sometimes you had to think of strange things to get rid of the boredom.
Alyanna would feel like someone was watching her. Before looking toward the side to see a man off in the distance with a carrier and a bag. Raise a brow as she watched the man. Sliding the ear phone off her head as she place her book back down on the surface of the mausoleum to watch his man and see what he would do.
Watching as he grew closer toward her.Lean over some to see where he was heading. Dressed in a tank top and dark denim jeans as she hand her long dark brunette hair pulled back into a ponytail. Before speaking to the man. " Hi "
Titus would offer a salute with the carrier as he walked passed the woman," Evenin' Ma'am" He moved on towards his appointment, making sure to be there early before the client appeared. Moving into the cemetery to where there were a few ground burials.
He assumed she was being friendly and not drumming up a conversation. Titus simply moved towards his site, thinking of nothing else more. His power churned a little around him, the smell of fresh turned earth apparent around him as he moved along.
Alyanna was actually being nice to him. But also she was curious about what he was doing.She was a cat and cats are curious creatures. So she would turn around to see what he was going to be doing. But wonder why he was carrying a carrier with a chicken within it. And hopefully he would be down wind. Since she was somewhat new? Did want her shifting in the middle of a cemetery that wouldn't be good at all. And she didn't want someone to get hurt either.
Alyanna would mark her book shutting so she could watch the man. Letting her legs fall over the edge of the building letting them swing back and forth. Taken in a deep breath of the air. Smelling the fresh scent of turned earth.
If she continued to watch Titus, he'd set up a spot, writing on the ground with a plastic stick. In a silver cooking bowl he'd mix a bit of his blood, some herbs and spices and finally blood from the chicken's throat (He'd cook the chicken later). With a bit of mixing he kept the concoction warm under a small sterno until the client arrived.
Soon after a car would pull up and three people would step out. A police officer, a lawyer, and final a court stenographer would walk up and Titus would shake the hand of the officer. They stood around a grave and Titus began.
There was some slow build up. Titus began to walk wintershins around the grave pouring the mixture around the grave. As he walked he began to release his power into the air. The cool ebb and flow of an animator, a strong animator, began to spill across the cemetery. His mouth moved but only the best of hearing could hear the low and slow words of power. His power began to spread like a low fog across the floor of the cemetery as he walked backwords spilling the red liquid on the ground in the cemetery. Once the seal was made, Titus bent down, while inside the circle and pressed his hand against the mixture. The build up of power ceased and there was nothing but the cool breeze of a graveyard. With a few hand gestures he made in the air the earth below him shifted as if made of water. Finally he finished his magic and the man below the grave began to rise out of the ground. He was complete with only the slightest bit of decomposition in the nose. He was in his funeral suit as Titus stood at the foot of the grave, hands clasped in front of him.
There was a lot of talking between Titus and the corpse. Mostly he was asking questions about a crime the dead had seen. Finally once all there were satisfied Titus laid the dead to rest. He touched the circle of blood once more and the seal of power broke letting out the cool energy and the smell of fresh turned earth. Titus once more shook the hand of the officer as the three left, leaving Titus to clean up.
Alyanna sat on her perched and watched the whole thing happen. She had to hold her nose some so the blood would make her shift. But other then that she was good. And since she was a lycan she hear ever word that were exchanged between the two like they were standing right there next to her. Watching the other people leave and he began to clean up. Alyanna grab her stuff placing it in her bag before placing it over her head and along her body.
Then she would hop with easy off the top of the mausoleum to make her way over toward the man. " What in the world was that call ? I have never seen someone do that before..." Alyanna look at the man waiting for him to tell her since she had see nothing like that before and she was curious about it.
He looked up towards the sound of the voice and gave a smile as he started to cover the blood with dirt. There was no easy way to clean it up as he stood and dusted his jeans off
"That was called necromancy. It's the ability and the power to raise the dead. More supernatural than preternatural. Only a few people in the world are born with the ability. I guess I am what you call gifted"
Titus smiled to the young woman as he packed up his gear in the bag and watched her.
"So do you just hang around cemetaries at night and see what's going on, looking for people to come by and see what's up?"
" Wow that was amazing...I might have to read up on that once I get my book done reading ." Hazel orbs would watch some as he covered the blood with dirt which was a good thing. Before she would look toward the headstone to read the name that was on it. " So did he give up the information that was needed for the crime he seen ? " Nope she was not just a human she was special.
Moving out of his way this way and that she would smell like fresh wild flowers that has just bloomed for the summer. " Well no not really. I was off work and the only friend I had ....was busy to night so I was left to find something to do and well here I am. And plus I got to watch something really cool "
Titus simply smiled at the girl as he walked to his car and put the gear in the trunk. He looked once more around the cemetery and then leaned against the car, looking at the girl once more.
"Yeah the guy told the officers what they needed to know. Which is a good thing, means I don't have to come back. If they missed something I have to raise him again."
There was nothing wrong with second raisings, Titus just thought it was a waste of time and an animal's life because a human forgot to ask the right questions. Normally he'd look over the questions himself and double check to see if they missed anything. It saved time and honestly meant Titus didn't have to walk out and do this a second time to the same guy.
" Well that is good that he had gotten all the question he need answered ! " Alyanna would brush some loose strains of hair from her vision as she looked around.Then would slide her hands in her jeans. " So do you have anymore raising to do ? "
She waited for him to answer before she would go into asking him her next question. Since she was really interested in what he was doing since it was better then turning into a cat every month when the full moon is shine in the sky. So would kick a little dirt around .." So if you do can I tag along ? "
Titus let out a small laugh and then looked to the girl, focusing on her nose and not her eyes(old habits and such). He closed the trunk and then looked over the graves gazing quietly.
"Nope, no more raisings tonight, you caught me on my last one. I tell you what though I'll be here night after next if you want doing a raising, if you want to watch you are welcome to."
He leaned against his car, watching the back and forth of the graves. It was like a sea of tombstones, but he always kept his eye on the girl. She seemed nice enough, but he never trusted girls running around a cemetery at night. It was a general rule after that demon or whatever she was lured him in that one night.
- Alyanna would frown hearing that it was his last raising. Before noticing that he was staring at her nose wondering if there was something on it - " Is there something on my nose or something ? " - She would go cross eye trying to see if there was. Before the other though came to her mind that he might think she was a vampire since she was hanging out in a cemetery .-
" You know that I am not ..a Vampire ..." - She would open her mouth wide so he can see that she had no fangs what so ever. - " I would love to come and watch you do another raising.. " - She was somewhat excited like a kid getting a new toy ..but also would have to remember to bring some nose plugs since she didn't want to shift while he did his raising ...with blood and all that .. -
"I know, but it's an old habit. Nonetheless, feel free to slide down here in a couple of nights and you can watch if you want." Titus never thought raising a body was something too spectacular. I mean it was cool, but not like X Factor cool or whatever else they were selling on prime time television these days.
" Cool....Oh it might help if I introduce myself ...so you won't think I'm some strange girl. I'm Alyanna " - She would brush hair from her face as she looked around some before looking back to him. - " So how many bodies can you raise in a night before you know feel weak or something because I know that takes energy to do something like that ?"
"I don't know, I never counted to be honest." Titus smiled to the girl and looked back over the sea of graves. Truth told he always capped it at 4 even back in his spec op days. He honestly wondered how many he could raise in a night, before he passed out from exhaustion.
He shifted a bit against the car and finally hopped on the back fender, hands between arms resting on his knees. He was still near to the small officer's model on his calf but that secret would be kept to himself for now.
" Hmmm " - She raise a brow wondering if he was going to tell her his name. But if not that's ok. Slowly hazel orbs looked that way and this way before watching him jump up to sit on the fender of his car.Her eyes would glance to the side seeing a crow fly into a tree near by. Her kitty was watching it on the other plane wanting to play with it. But Alyanna was talking to it in her head telling her that she can't play with the bird now...- " Well...how long have you been raising people ? "
"Sorry, where are my manner, the name is Titus. I've been raising the dead since I was in high school. The power came a little after puberty." Titus tracked the girl's eyes to the bird, took note of it then focused back on her. Hands dangled between his legs still as he leaned and talked.
" Pleasure to meet you Titus " - Alyanna would glance a round some as she would roll a pebble around the ground near her foot wondering what to do next since.. - " Soo Titus is this your only job or do you have some kind of job during the day ? "
"I have a day job as a US Marshall," Titus said simply as he hopped up from the car and leaned against it. Keys were in his hand as he watched Alyanna a bit more, with the idle conversation.
" Well that's cool .." - Noticing him hope off the car with the keys in his hands before realizing it was getting late before she pull out and piece of paper and pen writing down her cell number . - " Here my cell number so if you do any more raising and if I'm not here maybe you can give me a call and I'll be here in a flash ! " - Handing over the piece of paper to him as she would began to head out of the cemetery - " Bye it was nice meeting you Titus "
