(Clarification: After the text from Zoe and before the visit from Nike.)

Her fingers flew over the keyboard. The dim light of the laptop screen the only illumination in the upstairs office. Emails were sent, a few texts shot off, and about half answered quickly to either. Most were the standard issue answer of, they had nothing. Some even had the conscience to tack on an apology.

Downstairs, business went on as usual. Valen knew Jenna better than any realized. He felt, saw and tasted the shift in her demeanor. From the bouncing fun girl of twenty four hours ago, to the focused, intent assassin currently. He thought she was out of that line of work. Sal visited her not long ago and she hadn't taken the job. In any case, the lion knew it was time to run the ship. That's why he was here, to step in and keep things sailing smoothly.  When the tigress entered into this state, everything around her fell to the wayside except her purpose.

After the rather interesting blonde throwing around twenties and talking of her boyfriend Nico had departed, Jenna received the text from Zoe. After that, she was nowhere to be seen. Jenna paced between notifications from email or text.  Back and forth, restless, needing to have something, anything to ease her mind. She wanted no one near her to distract from her intention. No one to tell her to sit down, stop pacing, stop thinking, ease down, chill out. Words like that right now could get a body hurt. Badly. She was in a mode that gave off the signal no one told her what to do, how to do it, or anything of the like. Not even those closest.  Very little could slice through the almost military mindset. Any thoughts having to do with anything outside of the goal were transient and attended to only if the subject matter was an important, powerful one to Jenna Foster personally. Otherwise, it was never allowed even the slightest access.

The ding of the email alert had Jenna back at her chair. Another dead end on that one. Then her phone buzzed with a text.

-whatever has caused you to stick your pretty nose back into this line of work, forget it. even if its just information you seek, there's more than either of us knew.-

-being mysterious does not help me-

-not being mysterious, being concerned. go back to your life. forget the rest, kitten.-

-can't. friend involved.-

-good luck with that-

-f. u.-

-things were not as we thought, no real details, just know there was more.-

-there's always more. thanks for giving me the reason to stick my nose further in-

She tossed her phone to the desk and slowly spun her chair to look out the window. Already encased in black on black, long legs crossed.  The sun was setting, a slow laborious process in the deep south. The sky streaked several hues that ranged between lavender and peach, though her eyes saw none of it. There was more than she or Jeremy knew. It was curious, but did it really matter? No. It confirmed what she suspected. She knew who was responsible if Geller really was missing. She knew a few things about Geller from their short time together. He didn't leave his family without some kind of note, warning or phone call. She had assumed he walked away from their last conversation, giving them both time to think. After a couple of weeks with no word, she assumed further, (always a mistake), that he had decided it was no longer worth the effort.

And now? Now, she needed confirmation that Geller was truly missing. That no one had heard from him at all. There was still a small sliver of hope that one of the many family and close friends had contact with the wolf. That confirmation was already making her way toward Paix.
