Razor Sharp (Clark Kent)

Three men.  All slashed.  The apartment a sea of blood, the smell of it losing the fresh coppery tang and turning into something more sickening.  Very little signs of a struggle, an overturned lamp, a few scattered magazines.  They died as they dropped.

The blade was incredibly razor sharp.  The method expert.  V was everywhere, in vials both broken and untouched.

"Hey, Kent is on his way..."  The splatter specialist was standing next to her speaking.  Natalie came out of her focused mental discourse to nod at Henry.

"Thanks..."  She was gowned and gloved, a mask over her lower face, but the cinnamon eyes still burned just as brightly as ever when on a case.  This one was linked to V.  The one at the club downtown, linked to V.  The beatings, bruisings, tales of young children nearly captured, all linked to V.  It was Occam's Razor.  The simplest explanation is likely the correct one.  Wasn't rocket science, that was for damned sure.

She stepped from the apartment into the alley and pulled off the protective gear dragging in a lung full of air.  It was times like these when her gift didn't mean shit.  Dead bodies had no thoughts, but objects sometimes still had residue, but there was no blade left behind, no sign of struggle that would give Kent the signal he needed to read into it.  It was a clean kill, despite the blood soaked carpet and spattered walls.

She hit a number on her phone and walked down the alley, eyes ahead.  When her seven year old son answered, she smiled.

"Hey Mr. Delassixe, I'll be home in time to read the next chapter.  Be good for the sitter, okay?"

She smiled deeper at her son's response and hit End.

"Now, Kent, if you would just get here, we could call it a day and pretend we're normal folk just earning a wage."

There where not many times that Clark Kent was a very serious man. In court, and at crime scenes. especially one's with dead bodies. he was running late as he was about chasing leads on what was happening in this god forsaken town.  he pulled up infront of the building in question and was snapping on latex gloves by the time he was out of his car.

"Hey Nat... sorry I'm late, was doing a bit of leg work..."A few moments later he stepped up beside Natalie."Holy shit." his tone was suprised it was alot of blood and some pretty gruesome dead bodies as well., eyes on the ground around them, a slow deep breath as he got used to the smell of all the blood, it was a heavy smell overwhelmed the senses if you wherent careful. he reached over and picked up one of the full vials of V and turned it over between his thumb and his forefinger.

"I hate this stuff yanno?" he set the glass tube down and stood strait. "What's your take on the room?" he asked Natalie in a tone so professional, and concise that one had to wonder if this was the same clark kent that  promised to get NAtalie in the sack by the end of the year.

he made his rounds, taking a look at this thing adn that. he was a good cop, and really didnt like using his ability unless he had to, even if he knew that it was the reason he was still a cop. he would take a closer look at the bodies after he heard what natalie thought.

"Not sure.  The common denominator in a lot of these things lately is V.  Maybe forensics will come up with more, because there's still a lot of the stuff left here, and if they wanted it badly enough to kill for it, they should've taken it.  Could be they were on the shit themselves, and went a little beserk. "   That was the thing about vampire juice, you never knew what it would do to a person.

It wasn't much of a take, but it was the most obvious.   She remained where she was and watched Clark look at the things.  Even in their short time together, she knew he hated using his gift.  She didn't know the effects it had on him, but nothing came without a price.

"You don't have to do it, you know.  Just look around, let forensics do their thing, we can start on it again tomorrow.  Kevin is waiting for me to read him the next chapter.."  the last part was given to give Clark an out, so he wouldn't feel obligated to use his gift.

Nat stepped closer, and leaned to whisper close to his ear.  "Look, most cops don't have a gift, and they do just fine.  It's not a law you have to use it every time, yanno?"

"that's possible, never know what the stuff's going to do to a person once  it's inside of them." he said softly giving a nod as his blue eyes scanned the room. " I'd guess a knife, a sharp one. I can't guess if the person swinging it was human.. hard to tell sometimes.

he gave natalie a smile and a nod, glancing at her eyes for a moment. and he took a nice long deep breath"I know. I know... But, they didnt fire me for that very obvious reason... I catch people with it, and while i may not like it... you need to nut up sometimes and take one for the greater good." he really did hate that he couldnt touch things about a life story. but, what could you do?

He peeled off a glove balling the latex up in the other still gloved hand."You can head home to Kevin,  Henry can catch my back. I'll be able to sleep on what I could see from one of them. get a clear pciture by morning maybe" he gave her his usual charming smile again.

"And you've got all that dreaming about me to do... when i get home, I'll pop in see how accurate you've gotten." his charming smile became a grin then, he was trying to lighten the mood a little bit.
